100K Miles on my 2014 911 50th Anniversary Edition. #1173 finally reached! Klaus has been all over Europe and the USA to include a trip above the Arctic Circle in Sweden.
Love this car! Onward to 200K miles.
Bravo! You win! That is really awesome. Driven and enjoyed as intended.
Anyone have any thoughts on going to a 50th from a 991.1 Turbo S. I am a bit underwhelmed by the Turbo S...... just seems very sterile, with no sound. But will I miss the crazy speed of the Turbo S. I have never driven a 50th.
came out of a Ferrari 458 and missing the sound. But the NA sounds pretty good from what I can hear on the web videos.
How does the speed feel to you owners. I live near the Tail of the Dragon, and Highlands NC. So lots of very tight roads. Took the Turbo S on the Dragon 3 days ago. The front end grip was just crazy, and brakes were amazing. Other than that it was dull, but the grip never gave up nor did the brakes. would the 50th be close to this or is the grip on the Turbo S exclusive to that model. Or is the 50th pretty darn close and you would really never feel the difference.
Thanks for the help

everyone knows stripes make a car get better gas mileage.

I have never driven a Turbo but I did own a 50th. My suggestion is to go find a 991.1 GTS and test drive it. The 50th is a 991.1 GTS in all but appearance, and it will be easier to find a GTS for sale.

Turbo is AWD, to a degree, with rear steering, so the handling would differ. I find the MT to be much, much slower from 0-50, since I have to shift gears.. so maybe stick with the PDK.

I agree with this, and I still have a 50th. You definitely should find a 991.1 GTS and go for a ride. I’ve driven newer and faster 911’s, but not a TTS so I can’t speak to what you’d be missing. However, I recently drove a 992 C4S and found the acceleration and low end power to be a blast, but that’s where the fun ended for me. If I were to pick a daily driver I think the turbo models might have more appeal due to the low end torque. The NA engine of the 991.1 has minimal low end grunt, but I love the linear torque curve. It’s hard to get into trouble unless you intend it. More throttle, more power, and more noise right up to the redline. And the sound it makes is just fantastic. I even like the gentle rumble you can feel when idling (perhaps the TTS does as well?). The only 911 I would trade for mine is a GT3. I have a PDK and I love it. I’ve driven the manual and I’m not a big fan. But clearly that’s a matter of personal preference and not a knock against the functionality. I find the PDK to be a brilliant piece of automotive engineering.
Tell me this, most of these don't have XM radio, or back up camera. Can I add XM radio. If not , no big deal. I think the engine sound will be much better than the Turbo S. The 458 did not have XM and I just listened to the engine scream at 9,000. So I love the sound track. Would you Owners take the 50th over the 2023 Carrera T.......

You can reach out to the seller if the PCM came equipped with XM Satellite radio. Yes, you can add an aftermarket board that will add CarPlay and you can add the XM app, but this will void the PCM warranty since the radio seal needs to be broken to access the chassis on the radio. There are plenty of threads on this, just search. My 50th came with XM from the factory. BTW backup cameras were not available for the 991.1 which includes the 50th. I had to add an aftermarket backup camera on my vehicle.

Ok Thanks Sidvicious7, that is good to know. I have a back up camera on my 2015 and XM. I had read it was an option on the 50th. I did ask the guy, do you know what dealership he is with.

I drove a 2023 Carrera (base, not T) for about 1200 miles a couple months ago through all kinds of driving conditions and I have to say it reset my calibrations on just how much a person gets with a "base" Carrera. I was very impressed to the point I really starting thinking whether I have "gone too far" in searching for that perfect 911 experience with my current 911 (GT3). I owned a 991.2 Carrera T and have heard nothing but positive things about the 992 Carrera T as well (go over to the 992 forum and see the 500+ page thread on the car). I think the most fundamental difference between the 50th and a 992 Carrera of any type is the NA vs. turbo powerplant. I think if you test drive a 991.1 Carrera really of any type you will quickly figure out if the power delivery and sound is exactly what you are looking for, or if you actually really value the low-down grunt that a turbo engine can provide. Beyond that, the 991.2 and 992 generation cars have the typical improvements relative to a 991.1 that Porsche worked into all the cars: the steering feel is vastly improved, the suspension is more compliant over rough road surfaces, and the PCM is more usable (e.g., Carplay functionality). That isn't to say that the 991.1 is poor in any of those respects, but it is undeniable that the newer generations show relative progress.
What has you fixated on a 50th instead of a 991.1 GTS? I only ask because, as I am sure you know, the 50ths command a price premium (rightly so) and are a lot harder to find. If a person is in love with all the special touches (unique colors, houndstooth, Fuchs style wheels, green dials, etc.) then I would expect their attitude would be "it's a 50th or nothing" because no 992 Carrera T is ever going to be a substitute. On the other hand, if it is more about what is under the skin that matters, a 991.1 GTS or as you suggest some 992 Carrera may fit what you are looking for. The benefit of those cars is that you can probably find one easier (not to say "easy"; again it's relative).
Whatever you decide I think you are zeroing in on some great options!

This is what I found. I believe the vehicle is at Rusnak Thousand Oaks, CA. I used the rear license plate frame as a guide with the name Rusnak embossed on the frame.
