I read 599 also, about 6 years ago when i bought my "10 percenter" with 2K miles on the clock. That was a number I did not know.
Still love it and so do the fans, even though we a re coming up on the ten year mark. It always draws a crowd.......

You read 599 total 50th Anniversary editions in the US, or 599 in geyser grey 50th Anniversary Editions in the US?
Answering my own question:
Here are the estimates from the other thread:

Only Porsche knows actual data so these are just estimates and for main markets I expect the actual figures to be not far of these figures ie approx. +/-10%. Some forum members have already said 600 for US, 50 for Canada & 30 for Belgium & I know UK had 120 deliveries of 40th anni which of course was same ww numbers, 1963 but UK had a bigger portion of 911 than it does today due to emergence of new markets for Porsche. Therefore the figures can not be too far off the actual numbers.

Global sales 1,963

USA 679
Germany 458
ME & Africa 112
UK 100
China 92
Japan 80
France 58
Switzerland 48
Canada 43
Asia Pacific 39
Italy 33
Latin America 30
Belgium 32
Eastern Europe 30
Netherlands 26
Scandinavia 22
Austria 22
Australia/NZ 19
Spain/Portugal 18
Russia 12
Luxembourg 8

…so that means numbers might be less, or percentages different: I remember that about 50% were geyser grey, so that’s about 300-350 geyser grey in the US. And perhaps my memory is also serving me wrong about percentage of MT…

…and continuing to answer my query: numbers from that other thread show closer to 40% in geyser grey, but closer to 30% in MT in the US, but only 10% MT in Germany, and 80% MT in Canada.. . So that still puts geyser grey MT at about 70 cars in the US.

I'm still looking everyday for a PDK with PDCC. Any color but black. Trying to get my 24K mile 991.1 Turbo S sold and get the 50th Anniversary.
Wonder if I will be in shock with the loss of power and grip in the 50th or maybe surprised. I have never driven the 50th. Let me know if you can give any insight. Also is over 31,000 to 36,000 to high mileage. I would rather be in the Teens or low 20K miles.
Seems to be a waiting game.

Yes, you will not have the low end torque in a 50th compared to a turbo. You really have to get these engines to rev over 3k (preferably 4k) to really feel and hear the fun! You won't win any stop light races in a 50th, which is fine by me. Test drive any 991.1 Carrera S or GTS, and you will get a feel as to how the 50th might handle compared to a turbo.

Ok thanks, I would like to see how the car pulls. Does the car handle great without PDCC. Or is PDCC a must on the 50th.
Best,
John

I would think that PDCC is automatically included in every 50th. . . it's basically a GTS, fully spec'd out.

PDCC was an option. Most of them on the car sites are without PDCC. Minnesota has one with PDCC, the Grpahite in Phoenix does not. You can see the little shock button below the Sport , Sport Plus, the little Shock has pdcc written below the shock .
It was a $4900 option or more on the 991.1 50th.

One thing that is worth keeping in mind, IMO, is that 36,000 miles = 3,600 miles per year on average basically, since these cars are now ten years old. In that context, it isn't high mileage. The 991 platform has proven itself to be fairly bulletproof, which only reinforces confidence that a 30k mile car has plenty of trouble-free life left in it. I also don't see the value of a 30K mile car taking a dramatic hit if you drive it. Now, if you buy a 5K mile car and proceed to put a lot of miles on it, that will impact the value as you would be paying a very hefty premium to start out with. Of course, if you don't care about the impact to value then this is just an academic discussion.

In my 991 ownership experience, I bought a 991.2 Carrera T new and drove it to 13K miles; then bought a 50th Anniversary with 8K miles and drove it to 26K miles; then bought my current GT3 with 20K miles and now have 28K miles. In every single case the cars have been rock solid, bank-vault tight. The 50th was identical in terms of reliability, tightness etc. the day I sold it compared to the day I acquired it. I loved the fact that my Touring already had 20K miles on it because I feel zero guilt in driving the heck out of it. Can't say I would feel the same if I had bought a 5K mile garage queen. But again, that's just me. It really depends on what you want out of the car: a driver, a collection piece, etc..

I agree with you 190%. I had almost 50,000 miles on my Ferrari 550. I buy them to drive. But I just don't want to overpay for a high-mile car, I have changed how I feel about losing money. I used to not care buy it drive it for 8 months and trade it for a $20,000 loss. But as of late, I think do I want to just keep dropping down. I have a high mileage Cayman R, only 563 in America, and I am paying the price for it hitting 63,000 Miles. Again I paid too much for it. I paid $74,000 3 years ago when it was 56,000 miles. But I wanted one, could not wait, etc, etc.. So now with the 50th just trying to do the smart thing ..... wait... and wait.... that is not working well with me. Nowadays I just want a car that treads water, does not go up necessarily, and not going to drop like a rock. For the same money, I can get a 992 Carrera T as for the prices of a few of the 50th cars I have passed up. But I feel like the T will be worth about $122,000 in 2 years. The 2020 Carrera 4s was a $150,000 plus not they are run of a mill car at $120,000.
Just don't have the same amount of money to lose these days. Old age I guess........ I would like to sell my Turbo S and Cayman R and just get one car. I have 6 and you just can't drive them all at the same time. It's not fair to the cars.
Sometimes I think Carrera T just for fun, then the 50th anniversary to just enjoy having something different. I like the green dials and Pepita seats, plus the NA 6 sounds so good. The Turbo S just has no sound, but man it will devour the Tail of the Dragon.

Keep encouraging me with your thoughts.
Best,
John

I do think the 50th has less depreciation left in it than a 992 Carrera T would. It is far more special and is already several years old. While it is true that the used car market is still adjusting post-COVID, I am really skeptical that the 50ths are going to come down a lot as part of that deflation of the bubble. That said, you are right to be prudent and not overpay just because it is a "special" 911.

I hear you on that. I just need to be patient. If anyone knows of one for sale let me know. PKD with PDCC , any color but black.
Thanks so much

All you 50th owners and people looking for a 50th , why did the 12K one not get bid over $119,000 what am I missing. They are still asking $140,000. Seems the market knew something that did not want to make them bid over $119,000 on a
12k mile car. I think it is on autotrader now. They will not come down any. I just don't know how to deal with them.

It has damage reported on the Carfax. I’ve seen similar ones with low mileage and damage sell for about $100k.

I saw that. But it was only for rock chips on the bottom of the door, the dealership put on the touch up paint. He has records that show it. But that could be a cause.

Hey John,

I have a question since you owned a 991.2T and the 50th Anniversary. I have had a 991.1S (manual) for seven years and greatly enjoyed the car; it is trouble-free and great fun to drive. I have been looking for a while to acquire the 911 50th instead, but I am kind of balking at the huge premium over my car, which is essentially the same minus the power kit, wide body, and all the extra goodies regarding the appearance.

A friend of mine suggested getting the 991.2T since it would drive better than both the 991.1S or 50th (or 991.1 GTS, for that matter), and a good condition 991.2T can probably be found for 100k+.

I was wondering if you share the sentiment that the T is better or whether you feel the 50th Anniversary is more special and more fun to drive.

THX for any insights. Best, Andreas
