Default Ordering a 991 Carrera

Hi everyone,

I am ordering a new 991 Carrera base (3.4l). And this will be my first Porsche . I wish I could fully loaded the car, but Porsche options list prices are crazy haha. I am trying to keep it under $110k. So I am interested to know about must have options.

I am ordering it in Sapphire blue and Luxor beige interior. I wish I wasn't that lazy for a manual gearbox so it would save me $4000, for other options.

So I have some questions:
First of all I am going to use 991 as everyday car (that's why I chose 3.4L engine). Also I am not a type of guy who is "sports car addict". So I wouldn't mind the 4.6sec 0-62.

I am getting these:
-20" Classic Carrera wheels
-PDK transmission
-Power Steering plus
-Sport Exhaust system
-Bi-Xenon Lights (Not the LED, they were so expensive)
-Premium Package Plus
-14 Way seats, Leather Seats
-BOSE sound system
-ParkAssist front and rear
-Sport Design steering wheel and some interior leather upgrades.

and do i really need:
-PASM Sport Suspension ($2980)
-Porsche Active Suspension Management ($2090)
-PVT or PVT plus
-Sport Chrono package

I respect any reply on my post,
Thank you!
George

My Cars:
- '12 Mercedes C350 Coupe (Arctic white/ Almond Interior)
- '09 Mercedes SL550 (Iridium Silver/ Black Interior) (Selling when I get my 991)

Sold: - '06 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (White/ Cuoio Interior)
Sold: - '00 Ferrari 360 Modena (TDF Blue/ Cuoio Interior)
Sold: - '02 Ferrari 360 Modena (Silver/ Cream Interior)

Hi there-

I have a 991 S which is otherwise optioned fairly close to your list. You do not need power steering plus, I don't have it and love how responsive my car is. Absolutely no steering complaints at all.

I also would say you do not need the the sport suspension or PASM or PTV because you would be better off getting an S at the price range you would be getting up to.

Sport chrono package is a tough choice. It is one of the things I have to have, and I honestly cannot give a really good logical reason because I don't use Sport Plus. I just made it a must have based on, welllll, I was buying a 911!!!

Have you considered a CPO GTS over a new 991 base?

In my view you need:
-PASM (more comfort with your 20" rims, important for DD, and really looks better than stock)
-PTV Plus (really helps the car turnin pre-apex and puts the power down post-apex, allowing for more control during tail out hooliganism)

Don't really need:
-sportchrono (as its your DD)
-Sport PASM

You've sold your 3 Ferraris and now 1 of 3 Mercedes for this 991, so do you want it to be more of a Mercedes or a Ferrari?
If like the Mercedes, PASM or even the standard suspension is fine. More like a Ferrari, go SPASM for the stance and the firm ride - you've got smooth roads in LA, right?
(I will also warn you the base brake discs look tiny inside the 20" wheels!)

My S which I believe comes with PASM, sport chrono and most of the stuff you listed was 117. If you are not a sports car guy why buy a 911?

Shhhh! We need all the Porsche buyers we can muster. Although it does sound like he is a Panamera candidate. Maybe he just can't stand the fact the designers beat the car with an ugly stick prior to production.

To me a 911 is a iconic car. Timeless! No matter if you're a sports guy or not. Back in Germany, most 911's are driven by aged gentlemans (40+ yrs old), so I consider a 911 as a must have car if anyone can afford. I've driven some 911's like (996,997,991, turbo, gt2, gt3, c4s). Also I always wanted one, because I remember in my childhood when my grandfather had a 964 turbo and a 993 which i dont remember which model). And I don't want something fancy like a Turbo or a GT3. Just a basic looking 911.

My experience with Ferraris was like every 19-20 years old guy dream. Didn't care much about comfort, fuel economy, just like wanted to show off haha. My last one was the 612 Scaglietti, it was a big change from the 360 Modena. So i was like getting annoyed from Ferrari's on everything. Few months ago when I drove a friends 458 Italia, i saw that things changed a LOT on Ferrari. But 458, for now, is just far away from my budget. So now I'm like more of a Mercedes type of guy.

And yes I was thinking to get the Yellow ceramic brakes, they also look awesome on the car.

Come on. Don't get pccb on a c2. Makes so little sense in the light of your previous statements.

Its actually 4.4 sec 0-62 with PDK. I like the options but do without park assist, PSP, PASM and PVT. Tough for me to see the difference with and without them even on a track! SC is questionable since you now get Sport setting with 991 versus the prior 997.2.

You can certainly get pccb on a C2. That shouldn't matter what variant you have. Just not great for daily use unless tracking.

Old technology versus 98% new technology....why even make this suggestion except to divert the original intent of this post.
