The magic rear seats...allow me to share the experience with my 8 and 6 year old boys. They have had the honor of driving around with me in the 997 and now the 991. They routinely tell me to drop the hammer, and love hearing the engine behind them.
My wife grew up sitting behind her dad in his 1973 911t, so it has come full circle

I snagged a Cayman S hot lap with one of the Porsche instructors who travels with the World Roadshow. If you can swing something similar, afterward report back on whether you still need more power. I highly doubt it.

I like the way the new Boxster looks, best porsche design at the moment, looks fantastic with 20' wheels. Unfortunately I am taller, couldn't fit in the thing. Plus I have little kids, they like to ride in the back of the 991. However for such a big price difference if I was alot shorter it would be a very tough choice.

Bottom line is that you can't go wrong with either car, and if you need a back seat, then the 991 is an outstanding choice.

Drove the cayman (including the S) and many of the Porsche cars (991C2S C4S, Panamera GT, and even the Cayenne, etc...) back to back at the Road Show last week. The cayman is very impressive all around. It's easy to drive thru the turns whether you come in slow / fast or exit slow / fast. The 991 of course is best coming fast out out of the turns. Cayman's suspension isn't quite as firm as the 991 and it's not quite as planted at the rear, but it is deceivingly fast and easy to drive, and I have no doubt that with a few more horse power and a firmer suspension it would give the 991 a serious run for it's money (or beat it). And it can be had with similar trim for 1/3 less than the 991. I love the new look (much better and a much more serious car than the previous generation) and if I didn't have a 991 I would give it a VERY serious look. Only downside is the Cayman still doesn't have the charisma of the 911 or those magic rear seats which make the car just right for me.
Cheers ...

That reason alone is one major advantage the 991 has over the Cayman in terms of day-to-day usability.
I've driven the previous version of the Cayman, but I'd love to get a 981 on a track to compare the two directly firsthand.

But there's no losers here, they are both fantastic cars. We are fortunate to be able to choose between them.

My first P car was 718 ( base ) then I bought my second P.car 991.1 carrera S. If I forget their model number from driving point of view both cars make me smile equally both of them are fantastic. Ofcourse 911 is way more powerful but 718 is nimble solid like a small bastard. So driving pleasure I can't make a choice but when it comes to that name nine/ eleven that magical number someone above mentioned we grew up with that name maybe this is the reason I am not sure but my sense is working like Porsche is 911. I still couldn't find what this is but this is the feeling I get most of the time. I think the reason Porsche is producing 911 more than 50 year. The charisma that no other car manufacturer even Porsche itself come closer to that success.
