Default My 991 arrived but my salesman didn't....

So after 3 long months of anticipation, following the progress from build to vessel to port and finally to the dealership my 991 arrived. Only problem is my salesman is on vacation!. It turns out that if I take delivery with any other salesperson, my guy will lose his commission. I've worked with this guy for over a year, going to visit the dealership when I still had my GT3, shooting the breeze with him and finally selling the GT3 and ordering the new 991. He is a really nice guy and we have a great rapport. He gave me a pretty sweet deal on the new car as well. He will be back next week, so I will have to wait until the 31st to pick up the car. It's a little like running a marathon, the last .2 miles feels as long as the first 26.

Really bad policy at the dealership. It shows no actual commitment to customer service, just the inability of a sales team (I use that work very loosley in this case!) to work together. I well run dealership would find this very easy to deal with and make sure you got your car as quickly as possible!

I'd speak to the sales manager and have him put it in writing that your sales guy will get his commission.
There is no reason why a customer should be subjected to this idiotic policy and be forced to work around an employees vacation schedule.

Pick up your car and when he gets back, have him "redeliver" it again - an idiotic policy.

Absolutely ridiculous... You should post the name of the dealership AFTER you pick up your car so no one buys from them...

The norm is when the salespeople cover for each other, especially when making deliveries during fellow workers' absences. Even the biggest of sharks usually abide by that practice.

Even back in 1965 at age 16, I made sure my salesman got full credit when I took delivery of my Pontiac GTO; he also was away on vacation.

Enjoy the car and use it in good health; it is definitely worth the wait.
Your dealership sounds as if it has turned into a real "Highway Store."

Bizarre! Hopefully PCNA will catch wind of this. Poor customer service for sure. The salesman already made the sale, so I don't see the point in holding it up. Once the paperwork is done, my dealer has a senior service guy lead the delivery anyway...these are the guys that can show you how everything works and teach you about the car.
All that said, your wait is almost over, and you are going to be sooooooooo happy!

I would never go there for service after that. If your salesman is not there you won't be safe.

A new GTO at 16? And you didn't kill yourself?

Well done, sir!

Champion?
make a few calls, I'd be so annoying they would give me the car and tell me to come back next week for the paperwork..

That is crazy, it's a long weekend too which only delays the torture. I would talk to manager to straighten this out. All the sales work is done, just signing paperwork is left so that makes no sense.
