Gary Sims passed away
It is with deep sorrow that I report that Gary (simsgw) passed away the weekend of Feb 16/17.
I was a friend of Gary's and I was in contact with him just a day before that weekend, talking about Porsche winter programs organized by Porsche in the US, Canada and Finland; Gary was interested in attending one of these events. I have not heard from him since that exchange; my email messages were bouncing due to an overflow mailbox and I started to be concerned. After multiple failed contacts I was able to contact a PCA member living near Gary who just confirmed the sad news.
I lost a friend and Rennlist a valued member.
May Gary Sims rest in peace!

Oh my goodness. Gary missed his wife terribly I know, and they are together now. He was a wonderful man to get to know since I've visited the forum. I had just figured he was on another driving trip since we hadn't seen a writeup of his lately. He will be greatly missed.

I was lucky enough to meet Gary at a DE event in Pomona some months ago, after having read his posts and emailed him a few times. He was a true gentlemen. May he rest in peace and be reunited with his love.

This is sad news.
I suspected something was up as his regular, valued contributions stopped. I also had a lively pm contact with him discussing details around the 991 technical aspects which we both enjoyed.
Rest in peace Gary, you're a good guy !

Providing Gary with a car and roads as fine as he had here will be a trick even for God Himself. But with his wife beside him again I'm sure Gary will call it Heaven all the same. RIP.

What sad news! I am a new member here a really enjoyed his input!
Believe it or not I was just thinking last night that I hadn't seen posts from him lately and wondered how he was.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Wow this is truly terrible news guys! Does anyone know the circumstances? Seems so awfully sudden. Gary was always the gentleman and posted with so much passion..... I'm shocked to hear this! My condolences go out to his family and may Gary rest in peace. Life really is so short...

I just can't believe it! His comments were a joy to read! His writing was a lot better than some of the industry journalists.
I personally will miss his presence on this forum. Really really sad news...
