Default Lifeshine - thoughts?

Delivery of C2S due next week (can't wait!). Dealer has asked if I want them to apply Autoglym Lifeshine product to protect exterior, interior and glass. Comes with 10 year warranty, cost £395.

I know there are many posts re: detailing on this forum but I am really not sure about this. Interested in others experience of paint protecting a new car.

Pick up some anti-aging creme from them too.

Don't do this. Out of many cars over the years, I had a paint sealant applied only once. It ended up requiring waxing just as often as any other car I owned to look good. Spend your money on a nice orbital buffer, good wax, and your favorite beer instead, and spend some quality time with your new Porsche.

I second that Mike in CA. Perhaps a few cases of that favorite beer!

In my opinion, no one takes better care of my cars than myself. I have always done my own detailing and these dealer offered "coatings" never amount to what they claim.

My dealer says that kind of "upgrading" is for Toyota dealers, not Porsche dealers. Pure hype and a profit upgrade only.

I'm addicted to Meguiar's ultimate compound (to banish small clear coat scratches and swirl marks) and Mequiar's tech wax. Don't need a buffing machine.
Never let a dealer sell you some special paint protection. It's usually pretty ordinary shampoo with little else.
Agree with sentiments - nothing better than spending an hour or two on a Saturday morning giving the girl some attention. Very therapeutic.

Thanks guys. Pretty unanimous feeling about this and confirms my negativity! I have declined!

Do you have a link to the fine print of the warranty?
It would be interesting to see if they make any sensible claims or promises.

Here's an advertisement from their leading competitor:

You never know, there's always someone inventing a new "space age polymer" or discovering a miracle plant in the Amazon jungle ...

Dealer paint sealant job is a waste. Good washing and waxing is all you need. My favorite wax has been
Meguires 26 liquid. Used it for years, even on black. Easy on, easy off. Not expensive. Doesn't last forever, but it shines. And, the periodic waxing is the labor of love anyway.

Check out this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/carrera-...arrera-gt.html

First step in making any car look its absolute best is always to remove everything down to the paint. In other words, Step 1: remove Lifeshine.

Sounds like you figured that out already. Just thought you might enjoy the info and amazing results photo's!
