The Nürburgring remains the ultimate test of man and machine. The new 911 Carrera S and racing driver Timo Kluck mastered this test with a very distinctive result: a lap time of 7:37,9 minutes. Enjoy one lap in the green hell.

Nice.
So the 991 is around 12 seconds faster than the 997.2 without going too much into detail.
Would it be wise to use this as a base to extrapolate what the 991 Turbo and Turbo S would do ?
Turbo S possibly in the very low 20's ? We know P is highly motivated to squash the GTR at 7:24...
My wife is looking forward to use our new 991 (when it arrives) for her daily grocery shopping run. I should be worried...

So the 991S is now within one minute of the lap time Derek Bell turned in during this video of him driving the 956.
Quite a few may be young enough to be puzzeled by his comment about being passed because he was driving with a camera. Hard as this may be to believe, but there once was a time when walnut-size video cameras were unavailable! The camcorder in his car, mounted on a tripod beside him, was about the size of a microwave oven! Nowadays he could do nearly the same performance, but with multiple car mounted cameras, a/c, to the tune of Burmester audio and with real-time GPS mapping telling him where to pit!

Great video I enjoyed the ride, thanks for posting this. Is the circuit similar now or did they make many changes over the years?
