991S set a new lap record of 7:37.90 for Nordschleife beating 997.2 GT3

I traded my 2009 ZO6 for a 2013 991S: there ain't no looking back.
Not to mention the engineering defect with the LS-7 heads that are causing major engine failures at an alarming rate (GM isn't doing the right thing either).

I also found a unique feature with the Porsche that I didn't have with the ZO6: traction on the street; first and second gear is no longer useless.

It seems to show the GT3 ahead almost immediately, then gaining to about a full second at the Yokohama bridge. Not long after that however its back down under a second. Suddenly at Kesselchen the GT3 is up by a good 2 seconds. Then just past the Carousel its back to 1 sec. By Hedwigshohe the 991 has it back down well under a second, pretty much where they started.
This is not the way cars perform, but it is the way drivers perform. Both are professional. Timo races for Porsche while Denis specializes more on the Ring. Hard to be certain but this could well explain the nip and tuck nature of the lap.
Anyway, we know the 991S Timo was driving was stock right down to the tires. I have yet to see the GT3 that hasn't been improved in some way or other, and if you believe it was riding on stock tires I have a condo in Atlantis, give you a real good deal. In fact, 991S shows 2012 while the GT3 clip shows 2013, so its even likely the GT3 is on better tires than were even available in 2012. Unless I'm missing something it sure looks like we'd have to give the nod to the 991S as the more capable car here.

Race Car
If the times are not achieved repeatedly on the same tires by the same driver in the same conditions, such comparisons (faster or slower, especially by such amounts of time) are meaningless, at best. The factory published results when the 991 was introduced that are far more authoritative.
Or, you can go to a PCA DE and see for yourselves how much variations in drivers and set ups count.
more than a few GT3s are harrassed by well set up Cayman and Boxter Ss, let alone 991 C2Ss!

If it was possible to set up the same alignment on 991S, 991S would perform much faster in the corners. The only way to do that is to replace front lower control arms from GT3.
About this lap time. It is my own car in this video and I did not push it 100%, especially driving on a tourist day. Also I'm not as good as Timo Kluck. Timo one of the fastest drivers at the Ring winning a lots of races with bunch of track records.
In the Carousel I lost at least 2 seconds because of the traffic and to be gentle on the car that I really like.
It was my BTG lap with 7:26 BTG lap time. I never had a chance to complete a full lap without traffic, but my absolute best BTG lap with the same car was 7:20 which was 6 second faster then lap on this video! Unfortunately I had problems with my GoPro and it stop recording in a middle of the lap.
