Default Why the mystery???

Interestingly, the internal Porsche information
& data systems only tells you if a PTS is metallic
or non-metallic. There should be a parenthesis
which informs the buying public the color's name
& color code. But this cryptic message is apparently
all they (PAG/PCNA) are required to state in the
Monroney...and they stick to it religiously!

'Signal Green' (color code 22S) uni-solid color gt3

***
After being asked a hundred times 'What is the color
of this Porsche?
', this dealer took matters into his own
hands & scribbled the color's name in ink!

'Nogaro Blue Metallic' (color code Z5M) 'mica-type' metallic

***
We have seen some dealers outright lie about a
PTS's color in their showroom! We will not reveal
the name of the dealer (It's McKENNA in So. CA )
to try protect some folks that act weird at times!

Any clue what color to sample this is?

***
In summary, PAG & PCNA could put a stop to
all of this confusion & nonsense if they would
just print the name & color code in the window
sticker. But like so many other things related
to PTS, Porsche has decided it's better to keep
everyone, dealers & customers alike, a little bit
in the dark!

Default 'Nogaro Blue Metallic' (Porsche Color Code Z5M)

I liked it very much! But you are correct,
I am not into 'Heavy Metal'! And that is
what is so surprising when Porsche now
does this Audi color that Ingolstadt calls
'Nogaro Blue Pearl Effect'.

Notice what Porsche calls it & its paint color code:

Like with the Audi 'Nogaro', Porsche apparently
uses tiny 'Mica' flakes to eliminate the typical
look of 'metallic' paints. And all you see is the
deep color with a very good 'shine' in artificial
light & a bit more 'pop' in sunlight. Here is
more information about 'Mica' & Audi's 'Pearl
Effect' paints:

Pearlescent paints replace the metal
particles with ceramic crystals (often
called “mica”) that don’t just reflect
light but refract it too, splitting it into
different colours by allowing some light
in and slowing it down as it passes
through. This gives the paint not just
a sparkle, but a deep colour that can
vary depending on how you look at it,
making for interesting effects where
the car’s bodywork creases or changes
direction. In direct sunlight, pearlescent
paint knocks spots off metallic finishes.

Many cars in Audi’s range are offered in
pearlescent colours and similar metallic
shades – compare one of their pearl black
cars with a metallic black one in real life,
and you’ll see a real difference in the depth
and shimmer.

Unlike metallic paint, these particles can
be quite pricey – after all, something with
a chemical formula like NaMg3AlSi3O10F2
just doesn’t sound cheap – and a pearlescent
finish can significantly ramp up costs. Even
the cheapest pearl finishes cost more than
£500 and most will set you back between
£1,000 and £2,000, depending on the car.

***
Not to be outdone by its sister company in
Zuffenhausen, the folks at Ingolstadt have
developed a new twist on a well-loved Porsche
color - 'Riviera Blue'! But Audi will do this
color via PTS using the Mica 'Pearl Effect'
paint method. And their version truly rocks!

***
Porsche presently has a metallic color in its
color palette that appears from the distance
to be a solid color. That hue is 'Graphite Blue
Metallic'! And I believe they are using 'Mica'
flakes to create the look without giving emphasis
to the larger metallic flakes.

And you would be correct. Although I shed a very
small tear when we buried 'Nordic Gold' next to
'Lime Gold Metallic' at Stuttgart-Feuerbach's now
notorious cemetery for unsuccesful automotive
colors!

I go by their graves everytime I visit the factory
at nearby Zuffenhausen...just to make sure these
colors are still buried deep in dirt & have not been
resuscitated by some 'kitschy' color fashionista hired
by PAG at the last minute!

Interesting to see this, a lot of times people walk up to my car and say, "Oh, it's metallic".

Looks a lot like Wakeboard Blue!

Eduardo--I finally made it through the thread, in its entirety. OMG. You have created a monster!

- it can be special ordered through Porsche Exclusive who will then invoice the dealer
- the price of the photobook is 990 Euro
Back in 2006 while picking up my PTS Blue Turquoise 997S over natural brown I casually mentioned that the factory should make a baby album available to buyers so that they have a record of their car's production. Many years ago (1985) a good friend of mine had ordered a Gulf Blue 930 over black leather and he waited and waited for that car. (Apparently there was a nation-wide steel strike that didn't help with the delivery date) so Porsche AG put together an album of shots taken as his 930 wound it's way through production, to help placate him a bit because of the production delays. It's easy money for Porsche.

I'll check back here again in five years and see where this thread has gone!

I tried to get an "album" when I ordered my '15TT. Nein!
Didn't bother asking again with the last two orders.
I would imagine they photo/video everything in production. Not sure why they don't seem to be interested in selling a few strategic shots of every car to people with custom orders that would pay PAG even more money as part of the deal.

Some more details on the coffee table book for those considering to order one. Unfortunately I have never seen one in person but hope to have the opportunity when I am at Zuffenhausen to meet my Exclusive consultant in September to discuss my upcoming 911. So there are two different books available, the first includes photos during production, 1790 Euro and need to be ordered max. 4 weeks after confirmed order. The second has "only" photos of the finished car, called "Bildband Werksabholung", 1190 Euro. Both have a leather cover same as the interior. As far as I know the order needs to be placed directly with Exclusive and they will charge your credit card :-)

^^^

At that price, there should be 30 coats of paint & clear coat and be absolutely flawless.

Default Melissa...

Gents: Not everything pretty in Monterey this
week is an automobile! Here is an 'oldtimer'
from 'Porsche Exclusive' that is now working
for Mercedes Benz! I was very happy to meet
with her at the Mercedes Zentrum in Pebble
Beach this afternoon:

She sends her regards to all of her friends &
former 'Porsche Exclusive' customers that
frequent Rennlist! Melissa Witek was a great
help & assistance to many of us in the past
with our custom orders. And we wish her
much success at MB!

Melissa Witek is unfortunately leaving her position with 'Porsche Exclusive' at PCNA!

Hey Eduardo....thanks very much for posting the photo of Melissa. I was working with her right just before she left Porsche and she was great. Unfortunately, things sort of fell through the cracks after she was gone, but now everything seems to be working out so far. It's good to put a face with the voice/email.

Default Club Blau vs Voodoo vs Nogaro

They are 'related' but each a bit different...
and 'Nogaro' more so since it's a metallic!

We have seen 'Club Blau' next to 'Voodoo':

And this is what was said about it by the
poster that took the photo:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9591...t-porsche.html

*
Here is another - on your left is 'Voodoo'!

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9934...b-coupe-2.html

***
There are so few 'Nogaro' around that I have
not seen it photographed next to the other two
hues. But the 'mica' micro metallic flakes
(which are crystalline silicate minerals) give
'Nogaro' added 'brilliance' in direct sunlight!
Personally I continue to prefer Solid/Uni colors.
But admit some 'Mica' metallic paints (if done
correctly
) can be impressive!
