Quote: Kind of defeats the purpose of having keyless entry doesn’t it? Point of having the key in my pocket is I don’t have to take it out. This is how the doors work. IMO they need a new type of sensor for the frunk that is optical or more mechanical.
Or you could just.. Not have the key in your pocket while washing the car. I hope you have more than one pair of pants so you take the key out of your pocket from time to time..

Or I can leave the key wherever I want wash my car without it opening up. Why the heck do I have to back out the garage and remember to take the key out of my pocket? And I have two pairs of pants in case it rains hard or I fall in some mud.

PS I’m not sure this is a bad thing because I open it up and clean there anyway. Yes that is irony but my other pants are in the dryer so I’m grumpy.

I am lazy I guess, it’s just a PITA when you do it because you forgot and not sure if you caused a jacuzzi in the frunk.

Quote: push the sport button and the alternator will start charging at a high rate...14.5v and above
Sport mode also increases oil cooling, you will see the oil temperature drop in sport mode to around 194F. (I believe it activates an additional oil cooler?)

Quote: 9. If you look hard through the rear or side mirrors you can see if the spoiler is up or down. (I couldn’t tell on the 997 so had to assume it was working. Always wondered why the spoiler button light didn’t go on after 75 and off below 30…)
How do you do that? I can only see the rear spoiler when the sunroof is open and going beyond 75. Can't see the spoiler in the side mirrors. Here are my two facts PCM related:
  • You can press the INFO and SOURCE button together to learn all sorts of things about your PCM history and status.
  • pressing the INFO and SOUND buttons will reboot/restart your PCM

btw: love this thread!

Having put nearly 100 000km on my C2, my better half has driven it a total of about 2m in reverse, on 2 occasions. This was when some eejut has parked so close to my door (each time I was legally parked in an accessible parking bay, but the eejut has illegally squeezed in) so I cannot get my wheelchair in between. She had to move the car back enough so I can get to the door. She is a good driver but appears to be intimidated by this car. We also have a very steep awkward drive, where even with the front axle lift, I have to carefully angle the car so it doesn’t scrape either going out or returning home. She is concerned that she would get the angles wrong. But she is happy being the passenger, as we live in the middle of South Africa’s wine country...and my medication means that I am a teetotaler. She also happens to be less than 5’2”, and so can easily fit in a back seat.

Quote: It's nothing special about the 991 but another RL'er posted a cool tip that I use everyday (sorry I can't remember who to give credit). He programmed button 3 on the seat memory to have the seat all the way back for getting in and out of the car. Then I hit 2 which is in memory for my driving position. Makes getting in and out a lot easier for me. Great thread. Almost as good as the back seat thread, Riley!
I do just the same. I press 2 and the seat moves all the way back & down, and the seat back reclines all the way, which is where I need it in order to lift my folded wheelchair and wheels into the back. Then hit 1 and I am in desired driving position. Little things like that keep me smiling. I spent a lot of time (& then of course money!!) looking at exactly what options I really needed. Memory seats was a great choice as was the adaptive cruise control which saves hand ache driving in traffic, and also makes long distance driving much more comfortable. Sport Tex seats and a light interior lessens the heating effect of the African sun. Standard wheels and tyres give me maximum tyre wall, for comfort on less than ideal roads.

One fun fact, that few will have ever tried, is that you can fit 2 adult wheelchair users AND their wheelchairs, and luggage into a 991.2! It is tight, and a bit of a 3 dimensional jigsaw, but it is possible.

Fun fact: the spoiler is not just deployed due to speed but also lateral acceleration (lateral g-force) as well as immediacy of acceleration (longitudinal g-force) on the 991.2.

Ambient temp and engine temp also trigger the spoiler. I live in Vegas and when the ambient is over 100 the spoiler comes up around 35 mph if the engine is up to temp.

I can’t get my car to shift into neutral by holding both or one paddle in. I have tried many times and when I apply gas it moves forward.

If the windows are rolled down and I open the door, the windows rise up slightly. Then, when the doors are closed, they recede again.

Why?

Flick and release them both at the same time... don’t hold them in.
