And imo with hi flows and and any exhaust is the better sounding car to me. like the 911 turbo/gt2 isn’t a “real” 911of any generation because they have turbos. lmao or the better portion of Porsches race history is in turboing cars. 935k 962 (917 most wins for Porsche) 930 993 gt2. I absolutely despise when people try and act like Porsche is only NA and isn’t a real 911 if it’s not NA. But 991 NA still gets destroyed by a kid in a ford fiesta lol.
Why don’t you borrow a ford fiesta and I’ll race you in my 991.1.

With turbo cars come the "tuners" and street racers of the world. That was one emotional post. There's a reason why the 911 Turbo is with a capital T or "TTS" and the carrera is the 3.0t.. Small "t".

The 991.2 is phenomenal, and a great performer but Porsche went that route because of global emissions standards.

Lastly, the 991.1's performance is highly underrated on rennlist. A 400hp Carrera S 991.1 still punches far beyond it's weight. Same with the 3.4l base carrera.

The people that say older gen's are better are just giving you their opinions. My .2 had the water pump leak. Warranty item. Other than that I love my .2 4s. I traded a amg gts for my 911. Amg had an awesome interior! Not at all comfortable! My 911 has the 8 way seats in leather and I can drive for hours in traffic comfortably. But again that is just my opinion. Just like everyone else. Drive what you like. Anyone that can afford a car in this price range should always drive what they like! You have enough money to be picky. I personally will buy another 911 when my current one gets old.

Maybe for the GTS, but I doubt that too. I know there are rumors going around that Porsche is bringing back NA engines, but I don’t buy it. They spent too much $ developing the 3.0L modular engine. Also with the way of the world turbos are the only way to meet the emissions and fuel economy standards.

Definitely not trolling dude. Been researching these cars for almost a year and have been very impressed with the feedback and insights. I put down a deposit on a 991.1 2s and am flying to pick it up in a little over a week.

i feel like that’s true but maybe they will offer the base and S models with turbos and save the na 4.0 for the GTS models. All jokes aside it seems a lot of people here prefer the NA engines overs the turbos (besides me) it’s kinda like the 718’s how they offer both 2.5 and 4.0 engines.

agree 100% for all the reasons stated. especially the part about having already spent a mountain of loot over many years getting to this point. turbo's are here for good other then specialty models whether ya like it or not. if anything does replace the turbo's eventually/someday, it'll be e power via hybrid.

I usually tell people I bought a newer one because I couldn’t afford an older one. A 930 is my grail car but I would be stoked with any 964.

With any niche car theres people that will hold nostalgia for the previous gen. It takes me a long time to warm up to new 911 models. I’m still not feeling it with the 992.

Congratulations on a great NA car. Great choice (my personal opinion), but you really can't go wrong with any 991!

Best of luck getting good sleep until next week.

And it'll be a sad day. The governor in my progressive state just signed a bill eliminating the sale of ICE autos by 2035.

I went from a 992C4S to a 991.2 Targa 4. While the 992 improves on the 991 in objectively good ways, it also lost some of the character/DNA that’s in the 991.2. Truth be told, there’s a bit more character with the 991 cars, ie the good kind of imperfect. I don’t make this as some flippant observation as I have spent more time in a 992 than the average bear — I put over 35k miles on my 992 in 2 1/2 years. Taking that experience and regressing back into a 991 has been very interesting.

I do have to say that I LOVE my 991.2 Targa 4. Enthusiast spec — 2018, Manual transmission, PSE, Premium Package Plus, and a bunch of little details that elevate the experience.

that is a beautiful 911. That’s destined to be a classic. I love the color and the wheels. You have done very well. Enjoy it. That’s an amazing sports car.

Is that hybrid that uses an ICE, as well? This will be a mess if its EV only.

We'll be seeing a lot of this:

As long as small ICE engines are still ok, we'll get by. How many people do you know that always forget to charge their phone and are always on red? I do it sometimes too.

the problem with the statement "buy the newest 911 you can afford" is where that places you on the depreciation curve.

buy the 911 that most meets your intended use.

OP You’ll have to share more about what you’re looking for in the 911. it’ll be easier to provide perspective on the 991 attributes that are most important to you. For example some people want tech, some interior, some manual, some cab, and it goes on and on.
i owe both and the 991 is in improvement over the 997 but really in interior only and without the IMS issue. both fun to drive and can't go wrong with either. Porsche generally improves each new generation from things that bother owners of the older car. the 992 really is about as good as i think they are going to get. maybe if the .2 gets a NA motor? but interior wise, power wise, handling, the 992 is such an amazing car.

completely agree but i would put/consider depreciation under the "how much you can afford" umbrella.....as in how much you can afford to lose =)

to be more specific...."buy the newest car you can afford that meets your intended use"
