Default Brake Pad Measuring Tool

This looks like a handy tool, anyone recommends one? I want to measure the pad thickness on my 991.2 Carrera GTS.

I use that style. Quick and easy. Other options with coloring (red, yellow, green) are best.

on regular street use, my 991 tells me when the brakes need service, right?

Yes, there are brake pad sensors. A message on your dash will come on when its time for replacements.

Just wondering, What is the backing plate thickness on Porsche brake pads?

I’ve used a few brake pad measuring tools over the years, and they can really simplify checking pad thickness. For my own car, I found a great tool that’s pretty straightforward and accurate. I actually used a tool from https://ruler.onl/ recently for a similar purpose, and it made the job much easier by giving clear readings and even a visual comparison. It’s definitely worth getting one to keep track of your pad thickness—better to catch it early and avoid any surprises.

I've always just used my eyeballs. I never saw the need to measure pads.

This will be very helpful for PCCB owners as you don't want to wait for the sensor to be triggered ..

Yep. Nothing beats a regular eye ball.
