991 Front License Plate Mount

991 Front License Plate Mount
Anyone know if a 996 front license mount for a 996 will do the job on a 991?
I assume it’s mostly the same (either way holes have to be drilled in the bumper), but I want to make sure there’s no issue with the angle of the plastic/ the way it fits etc etc.
Anyone with any insight here?
The p/n written on the unit is 996 701 107 00

Just get a holder that uses the tow hook receiver. You don't have to drill holes on the bumper cover. I have one from Rennline. It works and looks great. High quality throughout,

Now I have a under radiator inlet mount, works great and no holes where they are visible.
As anFYI my 991 factory holder has two P/N's 991.701.095.01 and 991.701.115.01. I hope this helps.

Thank you very much Jim. Do you have any details of the 'under the radiator inlet' mount you used? Did you buy it, or modify a bracket to make it work? (PS - the off-to-the-side tow-hitch mount also drives me crazy).

The tow hook receiver mounted holder is for folks who temporarily need a license plate in the front. I only use mine to cross the border to Canada. I remove it as soon as I'm back in the states. I prefer the clean look.

@zphiroz - what state are you in? Can you get away not having one mounted? I have never had one on my cars and only had two tickets (one in conjunction with a speeding one) over the years. Small price to pay for a clean look. I know some states with front plates are more vigilant in enforcing than others and in some you would typically never be pulled over missing one even if you might be cited in combination of an other violation like speeding as I was in Virginia.

I live in Washington State. I've never had front plates in my cars. Honestly, I don't know if it's required here. I have never been pulled over or cited for it. Knock on wood.

Required in CA. Depending on where you live, some city's are more or less strict. Last Saturday in Newport Beach at CnC two officers were pulling over everyone for any little thing.

Mine is a Skene mount. Worked on both my 991.1 C2S and now my Turbo S.

I have the Carbonio one. I like that you can quickly add/remove the plate. The mount that attaches is pretty inconspicuous and is mounted with adhesive. The tow hook ones look a little boy racer to me.

Rare Earth Magnets
Don't drill holes! Anywhere! Have a trusted shop remove your bumper and glue rare earth magnets in the proper locations. Then, do the same with the Porsche furnished tag mount. Then you can pop it on and off as needed (when washing, transiting borders, etc.). I did this when I lived in MD and had to have a front tag. No holes!
