Update
So the porsche dealership called me this morning and said they needed another 200 to try different things, I said whatever. So the tech reset the pdk 3 times, its hit or miss one time it runs great next time it runs like crap. So, they still haven't called me back, the service guy said that the tech should have a answer for him in about a hour and that was at 1pm. Still waiting. Will update

So selonoid number 7 in the pdk has a severe leak....they want 16.5k to fix....im ****ed, no warranty so yeah it'll sit in my garage for 8 moghs till I can pony up the cash, got to drive it for 700 beautiful miles....story of my life, any ideas?

I keep saying, out of warranty with PDK, get a warranty. It doesn’t happen often, but if anything goes with the PDK, it’s a total replacement. I still think you should go back to the place you bought it from and have them fix it. You just bought it. Check your local state rules regarding car warranties for any car that is sold from a dealer, regardless of age or miles.

Anyway, 14-4S, I suggest that you find a good local indie. I've had motors replaced, trannies replaced, etc. at costs far less than would be reasonable to do at a dealership.

Don't panic. Someone can replace that solenoid, or the entire valve body, for a lot less than $16.5K. A Porsche dealer will not be able to do it, however; you'll have to find a qualified indy. The thread on PDK reverse engineering and component-level service is an all-but-literal gold mine!
Another reason not to panic: the way the market for these cars is going, you'll end up with $16K of equity appreciation before too long. So hang in there. Hold the dealer's feet to the fire, certainly, but keep your expectations very low, and (again) look for alternatives.
As for the people who insist on being dicks, well... like the poor, they are always with us.

Sorry to hear the dollar figure quoted was so high. There is a good repose with a photo and thread from 997 forum. Definitely worth looking into. If you were in Denver, I could point you to a shop that would be able to get you sorted.

I have the dealership take back the car and either give you a credit to another car or refund your money

In NJ if the car is up to 7 years old and has under 100k the dealer has to provide a 30 or 90 day warranty under their state lemon law. If your state doesn't have a provision like that I would try and get some sort of concession from the selling dealer and search out a reputable independent that can replace the solenoid.

well i wanted to give everyone the update..sorry to bring up a old *** thread, however no one finishes a story. heres how it went down, i ended up driving to Portland on a Thursday to the place I bought it from, the lady who was in finance gave me the wrong number for the warranty she quoted 11800, well she also entered the mileage at 80K not 28k, dont ask me how this happened, i had a lengthy discussion with the general manager.we reviewed my purchasing the car and filling out all the paperwork on his computer. The whole interaction was on cctv,(me buying the car, saying no to the extended warranty) he couldn't make sense of it. (how his finance lady ****ed up that bad) he then walked me out to the showroom said he's a man that likes to think outside of the box, i remained calm and collected the whole time as he is walking me past all these dope cars... i ask what do you have in mind, he replies," well its only been like a month and a half..." let me see what i can do...I walked outta there not knowing what to think, i get a call like three days later, he called said that they would issue me the warranty at cost. this is like June after I tried all my options out. well give the car to Porsche of tacoma. they tell me that they fixed it. same issue with the jerking, a very talented tech found out that the wiring harness for the transmission that when its hot to send the fluid to the radiators was bad, like the wire came right out the connector, only found this out when he was resetting the transmission for the second time when I brought it back still experiencing the same symptoms as before....gets better, the only reason why I even caught onto it was the p.o. installed a aftermarket tuner...this dude wired the constant to the accelerator which to me makes no sense as he was basically wiring it to a switch...so thus the on-off function of the car in relation to the throttle **** blows my mind as a electrician....so long story short a bad connector was the cause for my issues as well as some dumb dumb trying to go a cheap route with a 911 for power.....anyway car has been fixed since late June and its so stupid fun....i love it and its under warranty till 2024....thats my update, had to finish the story and again thank you for everyone here who told me to not give up.

So glad to hear it worked out. Good for you to keep moving forward and get it dealt with. Enjoy the car now. The 4S is a great car.
This is a great forum but like any opinion related environment, keep what makes sense to you and dispose of the rest. Some can’t help being negative or condescending unless it’s them in the thick of it. Hang in here, lots of good Pcar info once you weed through the Pcar egos.
