Page 157 of owners manual for 2012 911 Carrera #WKD991 021 12. “Shift to N - Neutral using the shift paddles.
Pull both shift paddles simultaneously and release them immediately. Transmission in N - Neutral”. Pull one of the shift paddles to put it back in gear.

I can confirm a quick pop of both paddles will get you neutral on a 17 4S w/SC. I was depressing the paddles too long last time I tried. Confirmed numerous times tonight it works. Thanks to all that chimed in. Now gotta try it in the Pan

I also have SC, so maybe thats the determining factor?

On my 991.1 TTS and sport wheel with paddles, we did the cobb PDK tune. Now I can get neutral with the double paddle pull, but it doesnt stay in neutral. As soon as I release paddles, it goes back into gear. Anyone know if this is a Porsche coding issue or a Cobb coding issue? Would like it to stay in neutral until I reselect a gear with the paddle.

No SC on my 981 PDK. Pressing both paddles and letting go puts me into neutral. No programming was needed.
this is probably like the hot cigarette lighter outlets. Some cars theyre hot, and then on some cars (like mine) they go cold 15 minutes after shutting the car off. Totally random.

@skl2 - I believe that is how GT3 works (must be Cobb feature). My 911.1 stays in neutral.

interesting, and disappointing! The cobb tune is awesome, and fixes (IMO) the shift pattern, so will opt to keep that but not sure why I cant also get the neutral to hold like it should. have a note in to ask Cobb as well. good to hear from you skip!

I guess my last question would be for anyone who has done the Cobb PDK tune, are you able to get it to hold neutral when pulling and then releasing the paddles? It seems those who dont have Cobb have had their dealer code it to work that way...so wondering if you then added Cobb and it changed?

What use is it to stay in neutral after releasing the paddles?

I liked the ability to coast; sit at a light with in neutral. The R8 and some Ferraris have that feature and for some reason I found it more natural. I see what you are saying though...and yes, when it comes down to it, the Cobb PDK tune is awesome so not looking to go backwards to save the neutral function.
