Exactly. I have a '04 Lexus LS430 also and I never got an extended warranty for it. Almost 200K miles and it's been absolutely bulletproof (true bulletproof, nothing but maintenance and wear-tear items). I think most people would trust Lexus and not get an extended warranty. However, when you go on the Lexus forums, there are lemons in there as well. All companies make lemons every once in a while, you just hope you don't get one. Warranty is to make sure that if you do, you are covered.

That's a $15K hit, that even if in the five years nothing happens, I would have spent $3500 towards nothing, but really it was a $11500 insurance of sorts never paid.
Also, warranty companies are in the business to make money. They know what they are doing when they charge a certain amount for the warranty. They know they won't pay out for most, so the ones that have nothing happen pay for few that something does happen.
Agreed... PDK replacement is a whole different ballgame. I mentioned it in my analysis... "Higher cost repairs (e.g. PDK replacement) would have also made the aftermarket warranty more advantageous financially."

Both of my 911s are manual, so a PDK replacement wasn't a risk for me.

That is a difficult question to answer. Ask you dealer shop foreman for a very small sample.

Hey Michael, I think a question a lot of us have is will Fidelity cover the PDK with their drivetrain only plans? I think people are confused and a bit scared that if any internal electrical part fails in the PDK that Fidelity would not consider that a drivetrain item, even though Porsche won't fix or replace that internal part and you need a whole transmission.

Do you have any experience with this?

I'm not even able to get a quote just for the powertrain only. Seems only the Platinum, Gold and Wheel/Tire packages show up for me.
