In reflecting on this thread and reading the many opinions on how many feel the .1 is so "lacking" around town and in general compared to the .2, I crack up a bit. I start to wonder how many opinions are those of true Porschephiles versus those who base everything on 0 - 60 and beating everyone to the next stoplight. If that is your goal, maybe the 911 isn't for you. 911s are certainly about speed as well but they are so much more. They're about heritage, style, quality of build, and of course overall driving experience. They do make a car for straight line speed bragging rights too...its called a TTS. The notion that any 991 is too slow around town is beyond ridiculous. Is faster always better? I'm not of that opinion myself. There was a well known air-cooled article a while back where the author asked many air-cooled mechanics and retailers what the "ideal" air cooled car was. 993 you must be thinking. Nope. A surprising number said the "lowly" 911SC. The author then asked "What if someone whats something better than an SC like a 993?" The response was "It won't be better, it will just be faster, heavier, and more complicated." Bottom line, they're all amazing and we're privileged to be able to drive them. I love all 991s by the way

yup. see my post in the other thread:
"Don't mind the heretics who say the 991.1 is lacking. Here is a video vs an M4 with more HP and over 100 ft pounds more torques.... the professional driver praises the torque of the old, NA, 911. In a BASE 3.4 Carrera.
Also ignore the comments around tech and creature comfort. Now that the 992 is out the 991.2 interior is as modern as a dinosaur and much closer to the 991.1 than any modern interior."
Put another way, and to avoid the .1 vs .2 debate entirely:
I moved from a 981 GT4 to a 991.2 Carrera three years ago with no regrets. 991.2, in all forms, remains underrated as a driver's car imo. Even the heaviest versions, the Targas, are a lot of fun down a back road.
Thanks all for the discussion. I have purchased a 2015 C4S. It's a CPO car with 7K miles. Please see the build and pics below:911 Carrera 4S

I think you gonna love that linear pulling of 991.1. I sold my 997 turbo manual for 991.1S and I also love it. However I live in small rock where speed limit is low and turbo is one fast ticket to jail. It get boring after a while, I like play around with my rpm a lot more now. Nothing sound and pull like 4-5k rpm on 3rd and 4th gear.
