A bit too much off topic.

I had a Challenger Hellcat for a few years, and sold my 991.1 S and Hellcat and then bought my 991.2 GTS. Happy I did. The Hellcat was fun. Still one of my favorite muscle cars and might even add another one some day. I would never replace my Porsche with a Hellcat, or any other muscle/sports car. Porsche offers exactly what I look for. Also, the big thing for me was to have a manual.

We also have a widebody HC Challenger. They are two different animals and really shouldn't be compared directly. Both amazing cars in their own ways.

Best to have one of each 😁

Interesting, two different platforms for sure. On settling with the .2 GTS surely you considered TT or TT-S. Was it a financial question or the GTS a more simple viseral choice? Thanks.
That said did you consider 991.1GTS as well?

He already answered it, the manual.

Its rather nice not having some of the nuances the M cars have presented in the past. Not to mention that flat 6 with PSE.
I've had an S65 powered car in my garage since 2014. Been all E90M's. Every time I have the urge to get something, maybe move to the F80M, I simply go and take out my E90 for a spin. Catless down pipes, into a custom x pipe with Eisenmann Race mufflers, tuned to scream all the way to 8750. Its, for sure, a thrill each and everytime I put my foot down.

When you bounce from stock to stock like I have, you measure the visceral differences differently. Those who finally make the leap to a TT or TTS aren’t necessarily rewarded with a better noise or feeling although the acceleration change is dramatic. All depends on what you’re after.

actually, I did not consider and probably won’t ever consider a TT or TT-s, for the simple fact that you can’t get It in a manual. I thought about a 991.1 GTS, in a manual, but the .2 models are overall better in every category, except for exhaust note, and it was an easy choice for me. I wanted the wide body, but not an AWD car. I do love the response and sound of a NA car, so I shopped between a .2 GTS manual and a .2 GT3 manual. But not having rear seats and costing about 40k more than my GTS, I figured the GT3 is a no go for now. The GTS, for me, has the right package. Glad I made the move for sure.

The S65 is marvellous, truly a great complement to a 911. I added an E92 to the stable 2 years ago and I couldn't be happier. If you haven't already, I recommend that you add a carbon plenum which will unlock obscene induction noise levels!

I'm glad many are enjoying the switch to the 991.2 platform. My wife and I tried starting there back in 2016 and just couldn't get past the silent motor.

To each their own.

Silent motor?! Have you heard of high flow cats? To each their own indeed but my engine is far from silent.

A friend of mine owns a 991.1 S and I own a 2016 PCA Club Coupe GTS. We took a trip to Germany with our wives and rented two 991.2 4S Cab’s. The 991.2’s were just out and we were pretty sure that we were not going to be impressed with the smaller displacement turbo engine. Yes, we were old school snobs! After driving the cars for a few hours, both my friend and I agreed that the cars felt 500 pounds lighter than our beloved 991.1’s! This is particularly surprising since we both own lighter coupes and we were driving heavier all wheel drive Cabriolets! We both agreed that the new turbo engine is brilliant! Yes, there was a tiny bit of turbo lag, however, the added horsepower and torque are highly addictive!!! No, neither of us have upgraded to the 991.2 cars, but the performance and driving feel of the power band are impressive!

That is completely true. I guess for me, I simply have to have that high revving V8 in the stable.

I've been 'content' the last few years that I truly stopped looking on the M forums. I've had CSL box'd S54's (OEM and Carbonious) E46's and they were hands down one of the best, if not best induction noises I've heard. I need to find someone local to me to try it. I know for the S54 you basically needed to run an Alpha-n tune (using atmospheric, IIRC vs MAF) and I dont know if its the same for the S65 carbon boxes, but daily drivability to me > then the induction noise. The E90M is my DD.

Put another way, and to avoid the .1 vs .2 debate entirely:

I moved from a 981 GT4 to a 991.2 Carrera three years ago with no regrets. 991.2, in all forms, remains underrated as a driver's car imo. Even the heaviest versions, the Targas, are a lot of fun down a back road.

I literally just got back in my .2 Targa GTS: 90 degrees with the top down and triple digits (as usual)...long live the .2s!

17 C4S with most options and DD. Still not wanting new car. Had a few of 'reliability concerns' (electrical) but I'm nitpicking when seeing all the recalls and problems our 'family car' 2018 (built 2017) suburu crosstrek has had.

I do (and don't) miss the NA motor and sound. The .2 certainly isn't as "soulful" as a 2014 boxster was, but that was part of the reason I got rid of it...the noise gets to you. The .2 has enough noise to be pleasant, but not annoying for the long haul. Oh and the back seats DO work for kids (big plus for family people).

No tunes needed for the CF plenum either in Eventuri or Karbonius trim. It's completely stealth too unless you go WOT at which point it drowns out the factory performance exhaust.

Now back to 911 business...but only in NA trim.
