Default Any regrets going to a 991.2 from a 991.1??

I recently sold my 991.12S. I'm longing for a 911 again, I was considering a 2018 991.2 4GTS. After driving the car for a day, all I could think about is the way the car builds power and the sound. Being turbocharged makes the car fast as hell, but it's certainly has lost something. I can't stop thinking about the 991.1. Is it crazy to re-buy the "old car"?

Depending on when you sold, I suspect prices will have gone up ... so you're probably going to be paying more for the same/similar car now.

Given that, you might want to make it some kind of upgrade, or at least "lateral move" into a GT4 or Spyder?

Trying to get in before the typical NA v Turbo battle begins

Went from PDK to 7MT. No complaints. Powerband behavior is completely different. I love boost and since you cannot get a "turbo" (by model designation) in stick any more this was the next best thing.

Do what makes you happy.

Myself, I'm quite satisfied with the torque and everyday driveability of my 991.2 C4S MT, and it's faster than a comparable 991.1.

Hope you somehow find peace of mind.

Find a 991.2 on Turo (or talk to your local dealer for an over night rental).. get the boost/tq and straight line speed of the 991.2 out of your system.. and then find yourself a 991.1 GTS.. thats what I did and NO Regrets... "turbo" cars will always be available and are here to stay.. get your hands on a N/A car while you can still find low mileage garage queens.

my 2 cents

If you test drove and miss the 991.1 - you'll regret getting a 991.2. Follow your heart. Selling and buying what you should have the first time is very expensive.

I had 17 991.2 S and then a 19 991.2 GTS. I actually found the S to be so much more fun to drive. I would stick the the 991.2 and just get the S.

What’s wrong with the GTS?

OP, get the 991.1S and supercharge it. Now you have best of both worlds And report back in 5 years / 50,000 miles so I can know how the reliability worked out for you 😝

If you can, I would drive them back to back and let the bigger smile on your face be the deciding factor. So many subjective and personal reasons why we choose the cars we own. I went from 991.2 to 991.1 and personally I can see valid arguments on both sides.

There's more .1s then .2s as the latter was only made for 3 years but there are opinions on both sides. I think the .2 is better for me as a DD. It builds power where normal street RPMs are, is quieter, has updates, etc. For a weekend car the .1 is fun in a different way. I've had both so can reasonably comment. I hated the .1 but couldn't stand hating the 991 so I lured myself back. I don't drive revving to 8-9k and laugh at people commenting on needing Burmeister since you can't hear that quality over road noise anyways. I'm more happy with torque then HP. I'm glad I made the decision. Basically the .2 can do everything the .1 can but not the other way around. We all have to decide for ourselves though.

I went from a 991.1 S PDK to a 991.2 GTS manual. Best move I made. Everything about it is better. Power delivery is still sort of linear. Not sure how Porsche did it, but the delivery is nice, doesn’t spike in TQ like most turbo charged cars. The only thing I miss, is the sound of the NA exhaust. The exhaust from a NA motor is not like anything out there. But, there is a unique exhaust note of the PSE on the 991.2 models and it’s nice. I’m thinking that a nice set of headers and possibly sport cats, will give this car some more attitude. Overall, do not be afraid to go for the 991.2. I think you’ll enjoy the modern infotainment system and updated steering.

I recently went from 991.1 7MT C2S to 991.2 7MT Carerra T and absolutely love it.

I'd make the change 10 times over again.

I went from 991.1 Base 7MT to 991.2 T 7MT....no regrets, with PSE and Soul Sport Cats exhaust is almost as satisfying as NA. Almost
