Default Door Trim Removal ??

From what I've seen on-line, removing the horizontal and speaker area trim from door panel is a PITA requiring door panel removal from the doorskin.
Can you do it while leaving the door panel in place?
Thinking of getting it painted with rest of fake aluminum while doing a new front bumper.
Thanks

The piece around the speaker has tabs on the backside that are heated so that they melt, which you can see if you remove the door panel. I wound up wrapping mine to avoid that job and the horizontal ones were painted at the factory. There are several threads in the this forum that may help you, such as these:

Thanks Bob, I found this one too that looks as though I could pry off the trim since I have full leather:

The idea of prying off 2/3 and then having it snap an being left with a hassle is not appealing...then again glue does wonders

There are even more threads that what we found but it appears you know what you need to do. I have done a lot of cosmetic work inside mine but nothing that required tearing things apart!

The door trim strip CAN NOT be pried off from the outside! It is heat molded to the door panel. You must remove the panel and drill out the rivets from the back side to do a decent job of painting them

See this thread

I've done this recently. Let me know if you have questions. I documented my work here.
Door panel upgrades
You don't need to completely take the door apart as I did, but the tools and screw info is useful. There are about 10 molded rivets to drill out.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate the brief and concise warning!
I may just wrap them of leave them and get the rest to my paint guy.
