Getting the rears out is the real pain point here. Can be done without spring compression but took awhile to figure out the right angles and how you rotate the assembly.

Mine didn't go flying at all and i pulled the top hat off without any issues.

I would just remove the whole shock - It takes like 15 minutes if you have a bit of help.

I will try that tomorrow and report back

The fronts were super easy... I got the first done in 30 min... did the other one in half that... rears getting done (very slowly), paint calipers, new wheels, headers, pro-tune... gettin ahead of myself, but yep all that in store!

Along with finishing up the maintenance, plugs done, fluids, air filters, full detail and fresh ceramic coating... and then the puppy mobile is ready for the summer!

Really really appreciate everyone’s help!

I've started to wonder about the rear spring perches on my car, and where they were set from the factory—and how much lower the rear could have been set by simply using the lowest setting. Looks like yours are on the highest setting. Would be interesting to see where most of these are set on 991.2 Carreras. Might be possible to get a fair bit of lowering without changing the rear springs—and then only changing to new front springs (similar rate, bit shorter) or adding adjustable perches in front. Not sure that would be enough lowering for most, but interesting to consider.

Doesn't look like a huge variance, but if you can get a ruler in there or measure it while things are apart, it would be appreciated. I suspect you will be playing with those perches after installing the TechArt springs, as I believe they are the key to why some cars with them look great and some look too high in the back

@stout I posted a pic earlier in the thread of the perch settings (post 21)-you can lower up to 1/2 inch from the highest setting to the lowest.

Thanks for this—so that would be similar to -10mm on what is supposed to be "-10mm" PASM on the 991.2 (like 991.1 with optional PASM vs 991.1 with -20mm SPASM). Only it sure looks like Porsche raised the 991.2 PASM and SPASM.

I didn't measure my car before and after, but I am guessing TechArt springs are -25mm to -30mm vs a stock base 991.2 Carrera—I'd happily see the car rise 5-10mm in exchange for better handling, but I may be alone in that. Not sure I am ready to see it rise 15mm+. Hmm.

The perch settings are usually used for corner balancing.

Got the strut out but noticed the top nut is seized... any hints other than soak with PB Blaster?

Yes, PB Blaster is best. Can not use heat in that area.

Wow that’s odd as that nut isn’t exposed to the elements...I would say soak in pb blaster or Kroil, etc.

So progress made! I’m at the step of lowering the snap ring... how do I adjust it? I want to make sure I’m using proper technique.

Bottom of snap ring, there’s a curious notch
