Default One car to keep a lifetime.

My 991.1 - like may 911's of old it gets slower and slower and more and more special.

Not sure about a lifetime, but there is absolutely nothing I'd replace my 991.1 S with at any price. I could see myself keeping this car for at least 10 more years.

I’ve had my 991.1 Base only a few months but I can tell it’s a keeper, having Soul Performance exhaust installed as we speak and will be ready this weekend, I’m soooooo
excited, also own a 19 Mustang Bullitt, I’m keeping them both . For a little context I’m 59 and over the last 15 years have owned about 20-30 cars, these are my keepers!

Life is too short to not experience as many cars as possible and while I love my .2 I cannot see getting a 992 or an older model so when it is time to move on it will be made by someone other than Porsche; however, I might come back in the future, as I have done in the past.

My 2017 could be my forever car. But I would also like to get some previous cars back, too. (Hence my current 914 project.)

We'll have to see, but if my 991.2 Carrera is anything like as reliable as my GT4 was (and so many other Porsches have been), it may be a 10- or 20-year keeper. Or more. It just does everything I need a 911 to do so well.

But the keeper for me is my 1973 914, a car I didn't necessarily pick but one that altered by path 31 years ago…

It's a disease, you can't help it and it isn't your fault. I have the same affliction. I do hope to keep my 911 for a long time, but that Aston Martin Vantage just keeps getting cheaper, and who knows what else may come along. Just go with the flow.

Me too, i would like my '09 BMW 535i (rwd, sport package) and '86 Honda Prelude Si back. Ain't gonna happen- but they were great cars.

If you keep a Porsche forever but you don't drive it.......... have you really lived?

More smiles with every mile......... go out and and drive it........ break it...... it can be fixed.

I have "newcaritis" as well. I buy them planning to keep them for while, then a year or two later I'm already looking because there's always something new and exciting out there. But I've noticed the older I get (and I'm only 42), the harder it is to find cars that truly excite me. My C7 Grandsport was exciting. But I worried about the myriad of issues that plagued the C7, so I didn't keep it even 6 months.
I wanted something that aged like a fine wine. Something that even 20 years later, would still turn heads. Something with a special heritage. I felt like the 911 was that car. It'll always be a "Porsche 911." I'm hoping it cures my affliction! Only time will tell.

The “one car” part is the challenge. I have two cars that have been with me for 20 plus years, another 17 and I am reasonably young (the first two came into my life before I could legally drink). If I ever get a warehouse, when I die there will be a great car hoarder youtube video about me .... hopefully someone will say this guy had a lot of cool stuff.

I liked the 991 generation so much, I bought two of them and plan on keeping both until I expire or they expire, whichever comes first.

My 911 has exceeded my expectations thus far. It was one of my dream cars growing up. If/when I slap on a pro-tune on this beast, it should quench my thirst for power for a while. My next toy will be a V10 of some sort and I’ll call it a life.

My 71 'cuda is my one car to keep for a lifetime. However, I will hang onto and appreciate my 991.1 for as long as I can, as it is a great car.
