Now that looks nice! Are you guys worried at all about aero affects from the exhaust? The old one looks like it smooths out a bit of air on the bottom. I was thinking of getting a diffuser to help with this. Also any issues with Keeping the valves closed during an HPDE? I’m wondering if they would cause any overheating during a long track day(damn you California noise regulations.)

Super excited, I believe my system was delivered yesterday, but waiting until Friday to install it into my 991 after I get back from Frankfurt!

Why thank you! And no the difference would be negligible, and that car needs a rear diffuser as much now as it did before. I love me a well designed rear diffuser! The flow path of the valves closed going through the side mufflers is the same path the exhaust would have taken on a Base Non PSE anyway, so the heat soak of the exhaust should be less than before without the center muffler present.

Regards,
John Gaydos

I had my Valved Performance exhaust and chromed tips installed today and all I can say is wow! It sounds amazing and is border line too loud. Good thing for the valved exhaust part. I drove it about 15 miles after picking up my car and liked the snap, crackle and pop. One of the things I really missed about my GT350 was the sound of the exhaust scream of the FPC V8 and while not the same this exhaust closes the gap considerably. I debated having custom tips done in Jet-Hot with either a titanium or platinum finish but with the way my car is setup I think the chrome matches fine. The shop that did the install is https://www.salernomotorsports.com/. They have an excellent reputation locally and work on a lot of Porsche's and Ferrari's. They had never installed a Soul exhaust before but they were very impressed with the construction quality, ease of installation and the sound.

Congrats! I think the tips look great and I love your ducktail! Enjoy the sound, it will get even better after some miles. I am loving mine!

Assuming you did not have PSE before, How is the valving controlled then, a new button ..where ?
When you (CarreraFahrer) say almost too loud, you mean in the valve open position right ? How is it closed ? Thanks !

It's hard to go up against the flat plane crank goodness that is the GT350 engine note but we'll be damned if we aren't going to give it hell with some flat six fury! Here's to many miles of enjoyment!

Here is our install guide which covers the exhaust install and valve controller kit as well. You can either use our included key fobs or pair them with your Homelink buttons to control them that way - it's very easy to do and takes a minute. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call and we can go over all details and options - be warned, you might not get John Gaydos off the phone once you starting talking about Porsches though!

My car has the factory PSE. It's very loud with the valve open but I drove it today and it didn't sound too loud. I'm probably getting used to it.

You're likely getting some carbon buildup inside the exhaust which will mellow it out ever so slightly.

I see what you mean.

Previously the exhaust would flow Headers->Cat->Center Muffler->Side Mufflers->Exhaust tips. With valves closed it's still doing the same thing, just no center muffler to quiet it down further...

With valves open an entirely new path opens up whcih is Headers->Cat->Exhaust Tips. So Valves closed should actually be very similar to before. I feel much better running it fully valves closed now!

I shot you guys an email the other day, but I'm still interested in some turn down pipes for the exhaust! The GT3 style ones look nice. Thunderhill and Sonoma still have sound regulations, even if they are significantly higher than Laguna Seca and I'd love to be able to run valves open there! (Pretty sure the system will blow sound even at thunder hill with valves fully opened).

I've noticed this, definitely sounds better over time. Also the sound gets better as the exhaust and engine warm up too.

That thing is so beautiful that it would look awesome if exposed at the rear.

someone should make a new finishing trip for the bumper that barely hides the edge and leaves the exhaust exposed.

Thank you! I'm curious to see what that would look like as well.

I'm also wondering about this. I'm about to sign up for Sonoma with Hooked on Driving for the Friday after Thanksgiving and I'm wondering if I'll blow sound. I just have the center exhaust so it will be close. I think I'll be fine at Thunderhill. With my GT350 you could add some modules that kept the valves closed even under WOT. The Porsche PSE connects to the valves via vacuum pressure so I wonder if you can disconnect the hoses in the closed position to keep them closed. Sucks but it beats being sent home.

As the valved exhaust systems have dual piping coming down to the tips, a quality quad turndown tip solution that you can easily install at the track is an unlikely scenario. The ideal scenario would be to run the valves in the closed position at the sound restricted tracks, I'd be quite surprised if that didn't pass. Those that are running our valve controller kit with our system would simply have to close the valves and leave them there. Those that are running our exhaust with the factory PSE programming would need to install our valve controller kit to override the PSE programming and control the valves with two of the three Homelink garage door buttons, and then run the valves closed.

For your reference, pulling the vacuum lines off the valves would not work as the factory valves and our valves are in the default open position via spring pressure. When a button or PSE programming is triggered to open the valves, vacuum is pulled on the valve diaphragms which overwhelms that spring pressure and closes the valves.

Best regards,
John Gaydos
