Thank you for the feedback everyone. 991.1 Guy, sorry to hear they didn't meet your expectations. Most do enjoy the added in pops and burbles from the factory - but it can be a drawback that it is not optional rather a feature from the get go. If we can help your situation, please let us know.

I have - at times wished that it didn’t pop and crackle so loud and heard that you can tune (softronics) them completely out. I haven’t tried this but will consider it if I can also grab some power. It’s either all gone (pops and bangs) or more pops and bangs with the tune. He said he could not lower the amount or lessen them.
To me there are too many pro’s in having this exhaust and the best pro is I can simply hit my pse button and its whisper quiet. Wife prefect!
i will say for anyone who doesn’t want too much just do the sport cats and headers. It’s subtle enough not to be annoying to those with more sensitive ears (not a knock or being rude) but the headers are loud enough where people will notice a change over stock. It’s the route I went but eventually wanted more volume and am not turning back.

Just popping in here.. have had this on my 991.1 C2S for 2 years and find this system on this car (3.8 N/A) to be one of the best sounding cars in general.. fellow car enthusiasts (non-Porsche) all love the way the naturally aspirated 3.8 sounds with this exhaust. Game changer.

Hey Mike,
I have heard great things about the Soul exhaust so am reaching out for more information! I am interested in possibly pulling the trigger on a system for my 991.1 S (with PSE) with the black tips. Can you please provide me with a quote shipped to the Houston, TX area including any available discounts? Thank you!

so i THINK i understand this correctly, but can someone please help confirm - i have a 991.1 S without PSE. Do i still use the same soul "valved" exhaust as the other 991.1 S/GTS that have PSE? I understand that i can obviously get the valve controller unit separate since i dont have the PSE button... but if dont get the controller, is the soul exhaust itself the same since the .1 S does still have a valved setup?

thanks for the quick reply mike! maybe im just over-thinking it, but what im confused about is can or how the exhaust would work on a S without PSE and without the additional valve controller kit.
Basically wondering if i could do without the valve controller kit because i dont plan on ever turning "off" the system anyway and instead just letting the valves stay open.

Think of it this way - there are two fitments - base WITHOUT PSE and all others. The tip design of the non-PSE base car necessitates a different design. S, GTS, and base cars optioned with PSE share fitment. If you lack in cabin provisions (PSE button) you would need our valve controller kit for full control over valve operation. You can pair the valve controller with your HomeLink buttons to control the valves as well.

If you do NOT buy the valve controller kit and do not have PSE, it works, but it stays closed "quiet" until you get to higher RPMs. It also seems louder if you press the SPORT button near the shifter as well.
The vacuum lines already on your car will keep them closed and without the valve controller kit, you can't force them open. If you want them open all the time, you can just plug the vacuum lines already on your car (don't connect them to the new exhaust) and the valves will stay open all the time. Just note... it'll be loud.
Funny story. Me and my buddy install the SOUL exhaust, while enjoying a few beers. At the end, I go to install the vacuum lines, and we don't have a long enough vacuum line to fit the 2nd valve. He goes through his tool bench and says "will this work?" It's sprinkler drip irrigation tubing. I say "oh yea - that's perfect" and I got ahead and finish up the job. Three days later, he calls and says.... "this exhaust sounds great, but it's really loud". He brings the car to my house, and I check it out and the valves are staying open. Come to find out, drip irrigation tubing will melt when used as Porsche exhaust vacuum tubing. Buy the correct tubing (7/32") and do it right! Two boneheads working on a Porsche!
He texted me today "exhaust sounds much better!"

Technically speaking the valves on the factory S model Non PSE muffler assembly should be actuated when you press the Sport button on your center console. However, we have heard mixed reports of this working over the years. We believe that some of the S Non PSE cars that installed our valved exhaust system had an underlying component failure in their factory sport button valve control, but couldn't hear it not working until the volume changed enough to notice with our exhaust. Those fellows installed our valve controller kit and away they went. If you'd like to try the system working off of the factory valve control, by all means we are happy to send it out without the valve controller kit to save you the upfront costs. In the event you can't actuate the valves reliably with the factory controls, we'll simply send you out the valve controller kit as that time. Whatever floats your boat, we've got your back
Best regards,
John Gaydos

Maybe I can answer this, as I helped a buddy install this exhaust on his 991.1 C4S and had similar questions. He does not have PSE and did not buy the valve controller kit.
