Anyone Install PCCBs?
#76
Mission accomplished. The PCCBs were installed much easier than I thought it would be. My installer, Terry O., owner of Pulse Racing Services in Jacksonville FL used Porsche parts diagrams, and his knowledge, to get what parts he needed to do the conversion. He was correct ordering only the parts that were needed other than the sensors since he did not know that the person I bought them from in Germany included them with the calipers/pads and rotors. And as he said all along, the brake booster did not need to be replaced. He took the car for a test ride and if you knew his background, which is on his web site, no one should doubt him. Anyway, they feel great and look great and I am very happy with my decision; those were the one option I debated when I was ordering and if my SA had not talked me out them I would not have had to go through with this. I was going to take a lot of pictures but for one I was cleaning my wheels before they went back on and for two, it was a real basic job of unbolting the old one, installing the new ones with the required parts and bleeding the brakes, which took 1 and occasioanlly 2 guys about 2 1/2 hours to complete. I will complile a parts list for those who would like to do the same.
1) I already have the same rotors and brake pads but need to order all the other parts in your list...
2) did you order all your parts from Sunset? Do you have a contact there that we should use (already familiar with the project)?
3) I have a 911.1 targa 4... can you confirm your model?
4) can you confirm that the adapter was 9P2.622.315. I'm pretty sure it is, but just want to confirm.
Thx!

Bob i have send you the parts list with email 2 months ago.
There are 3 versions of PCCB rotors. I bought the latest ones comes out from factory.
PCCB rotors of 996/997 are version 1, 991.1 version 2, 991.2/992 version. 3.
They changed the brake booster as this is clearly described in the official Porsche parts number. PCCB brake booster in 991.2 is different than Steel booster.
PCCB brake booster in 991.1 is the same with Steel booster.
The reason is that based on their request in order for the car to be covered from Porsche warranty it has to be identical as comes out from the factory.
As i said before brake booster replacement was 500$ cost therefore minimum comparing to the whole extra cost for the PCCB upgrade.
Lesson learned. NEVER buy a New Porsche WITHOUT PCCB.
Even if you plan to track your car buy the PCCBs and Sell them. You can make money.

This is an awesome thread... thank you so much for sharing Bob! I am planning to do the same upgrade and was wondering if you could answer a few more questions?
1) I already have the same rotors and brake pads but need to order all the other parts in your list...
2) did you order all your parts from Sunset? Do you have a contact there that we should use (already familiar with the project)?
3) I have a 911.1 targa 4... can you confirm your model?
4) can you confirm that the adapter was 9P2.622.315. I'm pretty sure it is, but just want to confirm.
Thx!

Finally, I have a 2019 Targa GTS albeit your Red S brakes are the same as what came on mine.

They look great, and I am sure perform even better.
Part of me is surprised that while you had them off the car, you didn't respray them Miami Blue.....

I'm thinking viper green PCB calipers would look pretty clutch

Very nice! On the list one day for my 991.2 GTS.
I read through most of the thread and didn't see the ballpark range for the full install (parts + labor) if you don't mind sharing. Thanks.

Other than the rotors, calipers, pads, and sensors, it was about $900 for the required parts and $230 labor at my Indy shop.

I'm planning on doing the same PCCB upgrade for my 991.1. The local dealership wants $1700+tax for the labor! Checking with an independent. How was your labor only $230? What was the charge per hour and how many hours? Thx!

Pulse Racing charged me 2 hours labor at $115 an hour. I was there in the shop the entire time so I can verify that is how long it took. I bet they are including changing the master cylinder, which is not needed; however, even if they are that is way too much!

OK Bob finally got around to adding pics of my PCCB brakes. Love the new setup and no brake dust. I now have my Big red brakes for sale in the classifieds.
I need to move to FL with those cheap labor prices. It cost me $930 to have my installed.
