Seems like a crazy expensive operation if they are not there when the car is built.
I love mine but don't track. Love the clean wheels and the unbelievable stopping power but if my car came with steel like several of my past 911's I don't think I would pay to add.

 

Not yet as some of the extra parts had to be shipped here from Porsche in Germany, but we expect them soon.

In regards to what it costs, it is all relative and I spend money to make me happy. SInce I already sold the ones on my car the bottom line is even less. My only other option was to re-order the same car just to get PCCBs as that was the only option I should have got that I didn't - that would be considered crazy!

This may sound crazy, but it would be wonderful to get weights of rotors and calipers between your standard setup and PCCB—a bit of an ask, to be sure, but if your tech has everything on the workbench and is willing to do, would be great to have that info from actual parts. Thanks, and admire your tenacity on this project. I think you are going to be in love from the first application...

 

I know the weights of the rotors & calipers have been posted before as I have seen them but at the very least I will weigh the boxes: 4 PCCB rotors & 4 calipers; if Pulse Racing has a scale I will weigh them individually.

Thanks, I have questioned myself several times as to whether I should swap them for several reasons since to some it seems straight forwards while others have told me it is not possible...I will find out soon! I did buy a set of Centric Posiquiet pads in case it cannot be done and I hope that I will be selling them soon!

We are still waiting for the extra parts from Germany but as soon as they come in my installer told me he'll get them installed right away and I update the thread. My wife is probably more anxious than I am since I am using the spare bedroom she calls hers for all of the parts/boxes I have now.

 

Thanks for the update. I can't wait to seem them installed. I need to buy one more PCCB rotor then I will have a full set but I am holding off on buying the rest of the parts until your install is completed to see if I need to add or remove anything from my list.

 

Or you could go first and let me know if I need anything...

We have set an installation date of May 10th based on extra parts arriving, which got screwed up thus the long wait. Hang in there John and it will not be long now before the takeoffs are heading your way!

As an engineer, I am curious about the claimed higher short-term deceleration with PCCB, as compared to normal brakes, during street driving when pads and rotors are near ambient temperature. I would think that short term deceleration under these conditions would be limited by the effective coefficient of friction between tires and road, not pad/rotor conditions. Normal Porsche brakes should have more than adequate ability to achieve this limit.
On the track, where elevated temperatures could adversely affect the performance of normal brakes, I could understand the possible advantage of PCCBs, but not on the street..
