It's been abnormally hot here lately (35C+). I've got to say, in this weather, these RE980 tires absolutely suck.

I'm glad I ran this experiment, but I'm going to go back to summer tires next time around. Alternatively, I might keep these all season tires on the OEM wheels and then just bite the bullet and buy some aftermarket wheels for the summer tires. The advantage to the all seasons is really in the March-April and October-November timeframe where there is still dry pavement a lot of the time, but the temps are at or below freezing here.

I'm certainly not sophisticated enough of a driver to explain what I'm feeling, but they do feel like they give up grip at these temps. A little greasy feeling, and almost as if the tread feels soft, but not in a good way.

Just for comparison, I drove my Golf R on MP4S back-to-back and it felt fantastic.

I trust that you notice a difference at 35C, but I am surprised that you can tell just from 'street driving'. Have not yet tracked my 911, but am curious to see how the 911 feels with greasy tires. Expecting just more understeer and lack of grip with laps.

That's why I'm disappointed. I genuinely don't drive it anywhere near my limits, let alone those of the actual car!

I want to buy these tires because where I live, weather is OK in April but after the long winter there's so much abrasive left on the roads and the P0s are so sticky, there's no way I can drive the car.
With a tread wear of 500, I don't think that sandblasting my fenders would much of an issue anymore.

Comments on debris and sand sticking to the 980s?

You will be pleasantly surprised at the lack debris getting picked up. They ride a bit rougher than the p zeros they replaced but if you don’t want to deal with tire change overs, it’s an acceptable trade off.

I had the DWS06 on my Tesla Model 3. I loved them.
I would check Tirerack reviews if I was you.

Really? I think these tires are great riding. Yes, a fresh set of p-zeros feel great, but after 3-4000 miles, I'd take my 980AS's any day.

I started with the 980AS and didnt like them so switched to the DWS and they have been great. The DWS also weigh a decent amount less than the 980s do.

A/S on a 911? I don't get that.

They perform great for everyday driving (better than crappy P zeros), I don’t have to change my tires multiple times a year, and I can drive in dry cold days without my tires feeling like hard pieces of plastic. The new performance A/S tires have come along way in development over the years.

I wouldn't do it on principle. Tire changeover takes very little time and car is better (stopping)in winter. I haven't tried new A/S tires so you're probably right but I don't even put them on my Q8...summer& winter. To each his own.
