It just takes a second to release the inner triangle so if I were you I would use a trim tool and take a peek behind it and if you can see the screw all is well but I do not see why it would matter and you will be fine.

I just installed a set last week, they look discrete and work 100% as advertised, my only regret was not getting these years ago.

Got a pair from Fabspeed a couple weeks ago and took 5 min if that to install. They have an OEM finish to my eye and work very well.

Ordered some Blackmills. Will post before and after pix when they arrive. And, a review of my impressions when driving with them.

x2. Also would like your feedback on the AWE ones for your Targa. The AWE ones on my 981 helped but don’t do a great job with the windows fully down. In that case the seatbelt waffles from the wind unless the windows are up a couple inches. Perhaps the AWE ones are better for a coupe and Targa.

I think the AWEs work fine on my Targa albeit I did not think it was that bad to begin with; however, the aerodynamics of a Targa with the top down are different than any other model. And the AWEs look OEM and I got mine to fit perfectly with no gaps.

I am thinking about printing a set of these using a 3D printer, should cost no more than $30 in materials

I made a set from Carbon Plastic Sheet. I do think what they want for them is a bit steep, so I thought I would make a pair in 2015. (The pictures are the first ones I made.)

Buy the sheet here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3mm-Black...EAaVJtH-fIZzRQ

Cut the shape out of very thin card first, draw around it and cut it out of the plastic sheet. Use 3M double sided tape to apply. They come back off easy too, no marks.
You need a heat gun and a couple of straight edges in a vice to bend it around. I even made the curve for covering the joint at the front leading edge by bending it around a screw driver shaft.
It files and you can polish the edges super smooth. They even look like carbon. We use this stuff on the off road bike frames.

I even used the same cut out for my new 991.2 GTS off the GTS Cayman in March this year. Ok I had to made the first one twice as I over heated it. If your ok with DIY it takes and hour tops.
The rough edges I smoothed out, they then look like factory fitted.

Regards

Bob

See here the same stuff to protect frames : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GAS-GAS-T...UAAOSwZEhcz~Ch
