Thanks Nick. I don't see any dates on the bottles, any way to know how long they might have been sitting on the shelf at the store before buying?Originally Posted by Motul

No problem! The mfr'ing date and batch number will be printed on the back of the bottle on the neck. It will show the European dating sequence of: D/M/Y -Nick

Have been using Motul for years on my 911s with great success. Just got a 991.2 tt with 11,000km on it which had a fresh oil change with M1 0W40. I'm going through oil at the rate of about 1l/4,000km and thinking about whether to go with your 5W40 or 0W40 (the latter is spec'd)? The car is not driven in anything below 3C (37F) as that's when the salt shows up
Thanks, Doug

The 8100 X-cess 5W40 and X-max 0W40 are both Porsche A40 approved and can go the manufacturer recommended interval. Most people around here seem to do oil changes in the 5,000-7,000 mile interval with good results. That being said, the used oil samples I've seen show you can go much longer as the oil has a lot of life left in it. It is up to you at the end of the day.Originally Posted by Dolphf16
I have a 2016 991 C2S with a manual transmission. What change interval and fluid do you recommend and how does that compare to the factory fill? Thanks!
Both of the fluids I mentioned have shown they have better additive retention than the Mobil 1 0W40, higher content of anti wear additives for better protection and have shown to lower the wear metals in used oil analysis samples when compared to the Mobil 1 0W40 as well. Hope that helps. -Nick

Great to hear that, thank you! Both the 0W40 and 5W40 both hold the Porsche A40 approval so one does not supersede the other. The 0W product will have better pumpability at startup regardless of temperature but will be a tad more shear prone (viscosity loss) vs a 5W40 over the drain interval. -NickOriginally Posted by the_buch

interested to read more about the test with Mobil 1! Is this published anywhere? Originally Posted by Motul

There are a bunch floating around here and quite a few people can endorse the statement here on Rennlist. I only have 300V vs Joe Gibbs, X-cess vs DT40 and Turbo Diesel Truck oil on my computer. Anyone have some links to help?Originally Posted by The Italian Pursuit

Also be sure the UOA's that are posted are post 2015. That's when the re-formulation of Mobil 1 0W40 as we know it now- Mobil 1 FS 0W40. -Nick

Both are Porsche A40 approved but here is the difference:Originally Posted by Papa Fittig
What is the difference between 8100 x-cess vs 8100 x-clean?
8100 X-cess 5W40= Full SAPS (higher metallic additive package for anti-wear, less friendly on emission systems)
8100 X-clean 5W40= Mid SAPS (less metallic addtive package vs X-cess since it is more focused on emission system protection)
Porsche accepts both full and mid SAPS oils under the Porsche A40 oil approval profile.
UPDATE: A new Porsche oil approval of- Porsche C40- is already out and can only be achieved by a mid SAPS product. Keep an eye out for it. The 8100 X-clean 5W40 will be updated with Porsche C40 shortly. No info yet as to whether Porsche C40 will be backwards compatible to Porsche A40 cars. -Nick
Burning Brakes
Thanks Nick. I assume that these 2 are compatible and can be mixed together i.e. filling the motor with one, while using another to add as necessary, correct?
