4 Point 0 - I personally apologize for the long delay in you receiving the ECU box from us. I recall your issue from several weeks ago when there was a miscommunication between us and the dealer you purchased through after the initial conversation pertaining to having the ECU unlocked locally. My last update was that we had resolved this after the decision was made to send the ECU to us for unlocking by sending you the ECU box. Instead- it sounds like we sent you (or I presume?) your dealer the AP instead and still no ECU box. Obviously this is on us and we'll get it resolved tomorrow morning. I have your direct shipping address now and you should have the ECU box on Wednesday (assuming UPS doesn't throw a wrench in the plan).
For some additional background information- we had an issue with UPS where they were returning the international empty ECU boxes to us...because the foam padding didn't have a tariff code. Somewhere along the way the warehouse staff made the temporary (and ill advised) decision to no longer ship the boxes to international customers. The situation wasn't properly communicated to others at COBB and we're still sorting out anyone who has been inconvenienced. Obviously this still doesn't make the situation right, but just trying to shed some light on some of the issues we're sorting through as we're developing this new to us program as well. We're certainly not batting 1000% percent yet but we strive to do our very best to satisfy 100% all of our customers, whether that means a smooth transaction from the get-go or a few bumps along the way. Any company can sell you something, we want to be the company you recommend to others for not just how we support you when it goes right, but also when it goes wrong.
Second to last- to clear up any misconceptions or assumptions. The lawyer speak extends simply to the physical ECU and the AP itself. We cannot, in good faith, risk our reputation, your vehicle, or your money, by accepting responsibility for ECUs being unlocked by unknown entities via unknown methods. We are in the process of rolling out additional methods for our international customers to expedite having their AP ready to install on their car. However, as has been pointed out in the thread already, COBB has a reputation of being slow. We were already slow to market with the APs for these vehicles to start because we wanted to cover as many "what if's" as possible before release. Adding another layer by adding "International ECUs being unlocked by others" would have added additional time to the release, so it was deemed a smarter decision to keep all ECU unlocking services in house at our corporate Austin location for the time being. We realize the inconvenience it causes for all customers, both domestic and international, but it was a decision we thought, and continue to think, is best for everyone involved. With that said- as has also been pointed out in the thread- we have never, nor will we ever- REQUIRE YOU TO SEND IN YOUR ECU VIA OUR PACKAGING TO RECEIVE WARRANTY SERVICE. You're welcome to send in your ECU via any means you deem suitable once we have the proper RMA setup for you. Please, PLEASE, do not send in an ECU without contacting us first (we receive literally hundreds of packages a day) and the processes we have put in place specifically for this new service are meant to streamline the process and avoid the worst case situation- a lost ECU. The reason we provide the ECU packaging (and return service labels for domestic customers) is for insurance purposes. We worked very closely with UPS to make sure all these ECUs are insured properly and that included their packaging requirements. If you are willing to accept the liability and responsibility for alternate packaging and insurance, then by all means, we'll be more than happy to set you up with an RMA and expedite the process for you.
Last- please, if you have issues arise such as these- contact us via direct channels. We do our very best to monitor the forums but being completely transparent, we do not have the resources to monitor every thread in which COBB is mentioned. The best method is always to call us directly at 866-922-3059 or email to support@cobbtuning.com. We have an extensive customer service department and they are the best option to resolve 98% of the issues that arise. ^^^^ THAT is what customer service should be like everywhere. Mistakes happen, but how they are dealt with makes all the difference in my book.

For some additional background information- we had an issue with UPS where they were returning the international empty ECU boxes to us...because the foam padding didn't have a tariff code.
Please, PLEASE, do not send in an ECU without contacting us first (we receive literally hundreds of packages a day) and the processes we have put in place specifically for this new service are meant to streamline the process and avoid the worst case situation- a lost ECU. The reason we provide the ECU packaging (and return service labels for domestic customers) is for insurance purposes. We worked very closely with UPS to make sure all these ECUs are insured properly and that included their packaging requirements. If you are willing to accept the liability and responsibility for alternate packaging and insurance, then by all means, we'll be more than happy to set you up with an RMA and expedite the process for you.

Ordered my COBB Friday and got the box today. Seems to be going well so far. I was a little surprised at the supposedly "easy" removal of the ECU. COBB sent great instructions, but I don't have the patience to remove that much stuff from my car (nor trust myself to put it all back together correctly later!). So, I'm having Growler Motor Labs in Plano, TX remove my ECU then flash and turn over keys to me ready to go. I know -- lazy -- but I'd rather spend my time driving instead of wrenching. They're going to install my SOUL 200 cell cats too. Will do before and after dyno's for the thread and share. Also, Growler did a .2 S COBB with before and after dyno (pic above). Looks to be similar results to others.

I am happy to say, COBB received my ECU. They have unlocked it, and its well on its way back to me. Tracking says it will be here Friday. I am 15 hours in the future from COBB. So two more sleeps. LOL.

Glad to see BGB INVOLVED. I am driving distance from them. Had them do some work on my base cayman. Good guys. I just put a deposit down on a 991.2 T . I couldn’t resist the raw charm of the T. I was lurking this thread to see how the tuning of these turbo cars is going. Everyone’s success is making me very happy. for anybody in Florida I saw a add on Craigslist for a set of TTS turbos for sale for 5k

Yeah I can’t wait. I have a January 2019 delivery date so a still have a long way to go.
The T just really appealed to me. It come so with all the right stuff. I bet a T with a Cobb tune would be the perfect all around fun car

That’s the thing with these 991.2 cars the bottom end is the same on all of them from base up to GTS. Basically Porsche just changed the turbos and the tune to creat the horsepower differences between them. Throw a little mapping and base is pulling S performance numbers. Upsize the turbos and a map and your base is is pulling GTS NUMBERS OR BETTER.. guys in the EU are already getting 500 hp out of The T. On you tube. Don’t know how reliable or well built it is but it is undoubtly easier and cheaper to get big gains on these cars than it was on my NA 981 base cayman. Honestly I think Porsche made a mistake. There are gonna be a lot of angry GTS owners out ther when there 3.0 l car is not performing any better than the lower models because everybody saved thousands and bought the lower model and threw a tune and a couple upsized turbos on. ( I know I am over simplifying it but you get the drift.)

It is easy to believe that a GTS with a Stage 3 tune can be better than a Carrera Turbo S but in my view these two cars are on different league and it's not only the HP that defines the level of a car.
What is learned so far from my early engagement with 911s is that every 911 model has its target buyers.
I wonder how many of the 911 owners can reach the limit of their cars and they need more power and torque.

As soon as you pass the tunning door there is no return. A Base Carrera with tunning has no any warranty comparing to a stock GTS with 2 years or even up to 5 years warranty.
