Check this thread out - they call out one location that seems to work for the passenger side.

Default Ground found

I found the perfect ground on the passenger side. Had to dig a little deeper behind the thick foam.

This may help future explorers

Default Connections

I tested the circuits on the passenger side with the ground. I tested unused banks.

C4 was found to have always on power
D2,3,4 were found to have power with ign to position 1, so will use one if these for ACC connection.

C4 per manual is 20A which is good, I will use a 5A fuse on it on the tap side and no fuse on the regular circuit side.

D3 per manual is 7.5A which will be good as well. Will use 5A fuse on the tap well.

I would have tested it but I did not have the right size fuse taps. I need one size larger.

Thanks Cyberbug for doing the legwork on a good place to tap/ground. Can you describe where how to get to that grounding location? Thanks!

More info to help future installers:

I ended up using circuits which are marked “not used” in the manual. I did not want to mess with any used circuits by putting any additonal load on them. I found C9 to have always on power and D8 to have ign on power.

initally I could not get the camera to come on, even though I tested the camera with the lighter socket. I tested ever cable every connection but could not figure it out. I tested the magic box on my other car and found both boxes to be good. But the parking feature which was working in my other car previously and tested was no longer working and that explained why I was having problems testing. I also found that I had to have the car running for the camera to come on which is fine.

I checked with a friend and found he has the same problem the parking feature which was working is no longer working for him either this is the feature where you turn on the magic box with the switch and the camera comes on and records in parking mode he and I have three cameras between us and the feature is not working anymore on any of them.

once past that issue I was able to test and tidy up the cables and everything is good. I ended up hiding the magic box behind the fuse panel, as I will not be using it to record when parked.

i did use the Blendmount mirror mount.

I will upload more pictures with my cell phone soon.

Curious why you decided on D8 vs D3 for switched power... they are both empty for me as well.

only because D8 per manual is not intended for anything. D3 is but not in use.

Gotcha - nice clean install. I'm going to wire up a streetguardian tonight, I favor the "wedge" style cams pressed up to the headliner. Will see how it goes!

Is there a max amp rating for D8?

Just asking because the Blackvue battery in hardwire mode pulls 9A.
