Finally got my T! Impressions, Review and Mods!
Well, after exactly 4 months since I decided to get a Carrera T, and after waiting for 10 days for a freaking truck to deliver my car from the Port of Houston to the dealer (15 miles away!), finally today was the day!
I got a call from my SA at 10:30 telling me that the car had arrived and would be sent in for PI immediately. Needless to say, by 12 PM I was at the dealer anxious to see my long awaited T.
First thing I asked for were some pics. Here they are. And a small request: Leave the car as is: No washing, no waxing, just remove the plastic when I get there. And they obliged.
Having ordered the vehicle sight unseen, and without having driven one, or even reading any reviews at that time (none were available), it was a true leap of faith. I have to admit that after driving the car today, my very, very high expectations were blown away. This is an extraordinary car.
I've had driven multiple 911's in the past, mostly Base, S and GTS. And as many other who have been lucky to receive one have said, this vehicle indeed feels special. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's unique and whimsical interior (best 911 interior I've seen, period!), the sound of the engine and sport exhaust, the way it handles curves (I have RWS), U-Turns, on-ramps, etc., and the unique exterior bits, makes it an incredible package. This is without a doubt the best vehicle I've ever had. And the first that I think I may end up keeping for a long, long time, even if I get others, this one will stay.
So here are a few interior pics. BTW, two options that I got based on feedback from other members of RL, that I may have overlooked otherwise, were the Leather Steering Column in Dev Stitching, and the Leather Interior Package (replaces the black painted trim for full leather at a cost of $0 for the T). OMG. Those two things make the interior look like a million bucks! Actually it looks just exactly like the R my dealer has in the showroom.
LOVE the stitching on the back:
After seeing some interior pics online, I honestly have to say that I have not seen a single one that would be even close to how great it actually looks in person. It is outstanding.
BTW, on the picture above, you can see my first mod on the glove box door. A nod to the original 911T... and the 911 R
One option that I had serious doubts about it was the Front Axle Lift. After seeing the difference it makes, I think it was absolutely and totally worth it! With the lift active, the front can go over parking bumps. It is a very noticeable difference. Here you can see the front height before and after activating FAL:
Enough to tackle my driveway easily and safely.
Here are a couple of exterior shots:
Yes, I already replaced the orange markers for the white ones. Lets just say that during the last 4 months I've collected a box full of stuff that I will be adding to the car. 4 months is a long time!
And another nod to the original T:
Too much?
After having finished washing the car and removing all the sticky stuff, I was relieved to see that the paint is in perfect condition. Not a single issue anywhere whatsoever.
And tomorrow at 7 am I will be dropping it off to get PPF. I wasn't going to do it, but after seeing it in all its glory, I want to keep it looking like it as long as I can.
In short, I am absolutely thrilled with this car. Not only the best car purchase I've ever made, but perhaps the best purchase I've ever made. I'm in love with the T!

Very cool. Wish my dealer could get me one. Seems that they're hard to get.
