Roketman has carried out quite a few mods on his T.

…and make it look like a 992 . Just kidding, still one of my favorite looking mods.

It takes a lot more to make a rear as ugly as the 992.

Nicely done on the weight savings, and on sneaking 19s over RAS and PCCBs as the stock 20s barely clear my calipers. Ti bolts, plate frame delete, front plate sticker, etc etc…talk about commitment. Have you considered front bumper grille slat/motor delete & mesh screens a la @polobai ? I'm guessing your class won't allow you to run GT3 Cup doors, but I suppose one could give you a hard time about those heavy Carrera T side stripes.

Re: a fixed rear decklid, I understand the rear spoiler does triple duty between aero, cooling, and feeding the intercoolers at various speeds. Curious for your take as I suspect you've studied the subject?

I'm also curious how many more pounds can be saved? 2975 is only 20~ pounds over our old 2.5-liter 986, which was a far simpler car with 201 hp, 181 lb-ft, no turbos, no intercoolers, a 5-speed transmission, and smaller everything else (wheels, tires, brakes, creature features, etc). Now trying to remember how much fuel was in that 986 when I weighed it…

I had been thinking about this recently for the 718. Basically ditch the motorized mechanism and replace with fixed brackets. The spoiler would be in the fixed up position.

No 992T bros making appearances in this thread yet? Or is this in a 991 category?

Yep, this is a 991 area. There will be a separate section on Rennlist forums for 992/992Ts.

Pete,
Vis-a-vis the rear spoiler replacement, it would appear there are two options: 1. A one piece replacement for the engine grill and moveable spoiler like the GT3 or 2. the much simpler replacement of the moveable spoiler (removing the spoiler and actuators) with a ducktail.. In the case of #2 it would appear that the Turbo based Sport Classic has shown the way and that a competent composite artist (which I am clearly not) could fabricate one fairly easily using a 991.1 ducktail as a starting point and modifying the front edge allowing intercooler cooling airflow to resemble the Sport Classic ducktail. Then a visit to a friend of OOO's wind tunnel could let us know if the addition of a 911R undertray diffuser was necessary to augment rear downforce.

^^and if you do all that work, make sure you keep a mold or a way to replicate the ducktail because probably 30% of 991.2 owners will want one and pay handsomely for it!

If only Porsche had fitted a static/non-motorized ducktail to the 991.2 T.......

I remain totally perplexed as to why this obvious market opportunity has not yet been exploited.

Maybe because it's likely harder than it appears? Or maybe the market really isn't there? Or maybe they just don't want to make the investment? I was equally perplexed as to how all the major wheel manufacturers like BBS, and OZ, made a few different wheels for the 991.1, then gave the middle finger to the 991.2 variant. This is why the Apex offering has done well. Besides them, it's only $10K+ offerings from companies like HRE that will work. I'm guessing the cost to develop a 991.2 ducktail solution is higher than we all think.

Pretty sure all your assumptions are true. like Pete said, the spoiler is an integrated part of aero AND cooling, not any easy or cheap solution to do correctly and is an engineering challenge. I’m also certain most companies don’t want the liability either. “Well you see judge XX company is liable because when I was going +150mph I lost control because the ducktail spoiler didn’t keep my rear wheels planted enough.” When Porsche offered it they had the time, money and resources (wind tunnel) to test it inline with performance parameters.

@Grantsfo any thoughts to the, albeit expensive, replacement of hood with carbon fiber and engine lid with the 911R carbon fiber piece? I also thought there were some carbon fiber hinges out there as well for the latter. Your modifications have been so extensive those might be the only obvious next step. Bravo either way on your potent T!
