As a two time 1993 RS America owner and having owned several "distilled" 911's in the past, including a 1967 911R tribute, I was excited to see the Carrera T being produced as a pure driver's car. In many ways it mirrors the RS America, since at that time, it was being produced at the request of the PCA as a lightened, driver oriented model, turbo suspension, no power steering, manual transmission only, and only 4 available options (boy has that changed) AC, LSD, sunroof and radio.
So I've ordered my T in the spirit of the RSA in white, with aerokit, and a limited number of options keeping the car focused on it's intent of being a true drivers car. It's my plan to create an RSA tribute with special decals, customs door sills, and a full custom set of wheels from Augment wheels in canada. On the wheels i'm thinking of a 20" recreation of the original Cup I wheels from the RS America, but in agate grey to match the current trim. I'd love to hear your opinions on other interesting wheel ideas that tie back to the previous generations, as well as any other input you might have regarding styling. I've included some photos of my previous lightweights for your enjoyment (or fodder).
Great plan. I was lucky enough to have a 964RS for about 10 years, my biggest mistake was to sell !
i think you need to look at the stance, the RS as we know was low and that helped with handling and looks. 5mm spacers and Techart springs and judge the rim offsets accordingly ?

Uh, the T was the cheapest 911, and the slowest, the one without even fuel injection. All those other cars you mentioned, they were nothing like that. Today's T, without even S brakes, is nothing like any of them.
Not that its not a perfectly fine car in its own right. Especially if you don't go loading it up with a lot of (or any) options that defeat its whole reason for being. The bargain 911. But, comparing it to an RS or RSA?
Slap some stickers on it, sure. But let's not get carried away.
The RS America, in it’s day, was a joke. It is a significantly different car then the RS. Many felt it was just that, stickers, sport seats and a cool spoiler. There are truely appropriate parallels to the current T, although I think the current T is a better effort then the RS America.
