Having put 500 miles on the car, no manual handbrake and rev matching in sport and sport plus are items I don’t really like in a drivers car.
I knew this going in, it is just very abnormal for me, I just need to get used to it and will over time.

With that being said.....

The car is an absolute pleasure to drive and does feel like a throwback purist experience.
I absolutley love the cloth seats, short shifter, no-frills nature of the car.

Even the turbo-engine really sounds like a NA-engine as it works up the RPM’s amazing how they got that so close,
NA is still more charismatic, but for a turbo-engine, wow! Bravo to Porsche on that item.

I hear ya' siete-speed. I found it interesting that the I (individual) mode isn't more customizable. It's almost worthless to me. It would have been nice to have a feature to turn off the rev match and other things individually. I was also surprised by the handbrake. First 911.

Yes, my first 911 as well. I did turn off PASM today and rev matching was off. That made me feel a lot better.

Well said. Yes, the engine is a gem! As Stout says, one of the very best modern engines Porsche has made.

Agree on all points, but none more so than a desire to turn off the rev-match feature in my 991.2 Carrera in Sport or Sport Plus.

The more time I spend with this engine, the more I think so. Your post reminds me and has me thinking about the best Porsche engines of the modern era, which I'll start in 1998. If I had to take a stab at it, from a purely experiential standpoint, they'd be:
  • Carrera GT V10 (by a wide margin)
  • 997 RS 4.0 & 991.2 GT3 4.0 (tie)
  • 996 GT3 3.6 & 991.1 GT3 3.8/4.0 (tie)
  • 991.2 Carrera/T 3.0 (S/GTS not far behind)
  • 997.2/991.1 Powerkit 3.8
  • 981.1 Boxster/Cayman GTS 3.4
  • Cayenne/Panamera GTS V8 4.8
  • 987.1 Boxster/Cayman S 3.4

Not so sure about the order of the last few...just a stab. Among aftermarket engines, Sharkwerks' 3.9 remains a highpoint for character and noises, Ruf's 730hp engine from the CTR3/Rt12 R is insanely good in terms of both power and character, and the Champion Werks K1 package on the 997.1 Turbo was a peach, too.

Interesting point Stout.

Can you please elaborate further why a 997 4.0 NA or 991.2 4.0 NA engine is better than a 991.2 T/S/GTS engine?

^ Suppose I could come up with reasons, but it's largely based on emotion after spending a lot of time with both.

The noises, redlines, and power characteristics of those GT3 engines are extraordinarily compelling...both are true masterpieces of internal combustion in terms of experience, engines I'd count up there with some of the greatest V12s. The 991.2 3.0 fights back with more breadth of ability and more usable torque with plenty of character on its own terms—along with the ability to fade into the background in daily driving or on long trips. I'd probably rather live with the 3.0, enjoying its high points on a daily basis, but the 4.0 is one of motoring's peak experiences.

Like I said, largely based on emotion.

I have the one piece carbon seats. Seen in picture above. If I were to get the four point Schroth harness per the below... are those suitable attachment points for the harness on the rear shelf? (Trying to avoid getting a roll cage installed - at this point.) ...I am thinking of a four point, because I am thinking of a HANS device.

^^^ No, those are back up restraint points for children seats. Not robust enough for a harness. Look into a harness bar instead if you don't want a full cage.

Any idea where the top two straps go once they've gone through the seatback holes?

You'll need a harness bar or a roll bar.

Common wisdom is that if you put in a four or five or six point harness, and wear a HANS device, you will become a rigid object in the car, and if you roll, your neck won't do well. Hence the advice that if you are putting in a harness, put in a roll bar.

Not recommended - something like:

Slightly better (but has no diagonals but still maintains access to the rear seat for cargo):

Best - something like:
