Indeed weight and complexity makes situation not ideal for a pure Sports Car.

RAS is must especially for Porsche newbies as rear engine cars needs big ***** to press the pedal in the middle of the corner in order to turn fast...

No matter FAL or RAS a 911 will be always a legendary car.
I don't need FAL for DD 911.

I wouldn't feel comfortable living somewhere with such a steep driveway that FAL makes all the difference. I would just store the car elsewhere.

If I'm not wrong, I read somewhere that it adds around 20 lbs. I would say that is not that much for the usefulness it adds. It is actually way less than the additional weight of the 14 or 18 way seats, and I don't see anyone complaining about the weight penalty for that. 4-way are much lighter (60 lbs less?) and more comfortable. If anything, weight above the front wheels may actually be better on a 911.
It's not just the weight, but why would you waste so much money on compromising your car? 4 way seats are the way to go in NA, non-GT 911s.

I sincerely doubt 99.9% of the people reading this would be able to notice the 20 lb difference on a 911 used as a daily driver. Even on the track, unless your last name is Lauda, Senna, Fittipaldi, Barichelo or Schumacher, I doubt you would would notice it either. What you would notice, is the screeching sound of your front end dragging when you least expect it. But I guess different situations call for different options.

This is me. Just lwb and pccb (plus smoking package, net and extinguisher).

but surely there is no “bad” solution? Everyone is different, and in a different situation. I ordered the car I want. That doesn’t mean someone else’s choices are wrong. They are just not for me. People have such strong opinions about other people’s choices. If someone wants every option available I say go for it. If someone wants absolutely no options -same reaction from me.

As a newbie to Porsche, and 911’s, I think (and you see many saying this here) you can’t go wrong with any version of a 911. The rest is splitting hairs.

1025 miles in... i got to play with +4K on the rev counter. Wonderful. This T continues to meet and exceed expectations!!!!

That is true. I would notice the unnecessary spend on the FAL though. I don't mind scraping.

PDK, at least to me, just seems to completely contradict what this car is all about.

Nothing wrong with a PDK for those looking to track. The bigger travesty in my opinion is the added weight of a sunroof.

...but for someone, this will be the perfect 991.2.

The T is going to be a relatively rare beast in the 991 world, with few identical cars, so I wish happy motoring to whoever ends up owning this T.

I’m afraid then my T is a triple travesty: FAL, rear wiper (meaning normal glass), and glass sunroof. But here’s the thing, I won’t track it and just simply drive. Having said that, I can only imagine how much sharper the “purer” builds are as it relates to handling, sound and performance, because so far, for me, the T is fabulous.

I got the car and drove it home for about 35 miles. Too soon to say much, but the car is very comfortable and will be my DD. I am coming from 2017 Miata RF GT, so the shifter feels similar, but will take some getting used to. I will be taking the car on a long drive this coming weekend and will report back with my observations. My previous P-cars were 2011 Boxster Spyder and 2016 GT4. My wive's DD is 2017 Macan GTS. This car feels completely different, more GTish which is exactly what I was looking for as I'd like to drive my cars every day. One thing that I noticed right away is how nice the clutch was. Its light and very precise. I hate heavy clutches. The brakes that lots of people were concern as not being good enough, I found them more than adequate. More to come...
Thanks guys
