Hello all, putting finishing touches on Issue 016, but thank you (!!) for your interest and quick notes on the above:
1. Re: the 000 Art Car and the colors it pays homage to: Something we've learned with the S slip cases as well as Rare Shades in general is that 1) it's very tricky to duplicate a given color (Irish Green, Rubystone, etc), and more than a few concours cars no longer match their original color, and 2) there are often multiple colors under one name, and then even those can change due to paint technology and spray outs…not to mention the car they're painted on. That's a whole subject to itself, but the colors seen on the art car faced one challenge more: They're rendered in vinyl. So I'm hesitant to say they're "this" or "that." But I see references to Mint Green, Crystal Blue, Mexico Blue, Rubystar/stone, Rose Red, Peru Red….
2. These questions have come up recently from another course—as we are working on models of the art car with Spark, to do something special for our subscribers in celebration of David Donner's unexpected win. Not sure we'll carry them on the website, but more to come on that…
If anyone has a spare copy of any or all of Issues 1 to 4 including the S case I am looking to buy them. Have just bought all the other back issues from the 000 website. Wish I’d subscribed back at the beginning !
The 991 GT2 RS Clubsport art car was designed by Justin Page, who did concert posters for Bill Graham Presents (if you know, you know) and far, far more. Consider it 000's nod to the end of the 991 era, and a creative project that wouldn't have been possible if a few sponsors didn't sign on to help us do an art project in a year that sure could use one. They are: Michelin, Chopard, Polyphony, Champion, and Meguiar's. (Mainly, we just wanted to see the GT2 RS/CS in a cool livery and maybe just maybe drive one on Pikes Peak as part of a storyline—because who doesn't want to drive a 991 on Pikes Peak without the usual speed limit? Somehow, they agreed to help us make it happen.)
And then, in a magic bit of serendipity, it turned into a full-blown racing program for six-time Pikes Peak winner David Donner.

I must say your lavish display in that issue of 000 inspired me to go and purchase an original Larry Chen of the 935 at Pikes peak. 24x36 photo signed by him! Looks fantastic in my office. I'm sad it's not the art car, but feel glad I know there's a legend behind the wheel.

Yeah, I've come to love the Colorado Rockies. Outside my study where this hangs is our stairwell, and going up the stairs are four large canvas prints of photos I've taken while on vacation there. Nowhere near Larry's skill of course! The combo of the Rockies and a Turbo 911 just resonated hard with me and I had to add it.

My children went together and bought me a subscription for Christmas, I must say that the quality is fantastic and articles cover a breadth of topics. Best Christmas present I received last year….hands down.

@stout , will you ever explore the collaboration cars Porsche has done through the years such as the Audi RS2 or the 500E Benz in the pages of 000? I'm less curious about road tests or over the road retrospectives (though those would be interesting as well through your lens), I'm more interested in how those projects were selected and evaluated by Porsche given the circumstances that existed at the company during those times. To my knowledge, there are yet to be any definitive works of journalism that capture the feedback of people on the Porsche staff at that time. Full disclosure, I own a 500E...(and a CarreraT and 3.2 Carrera...)

We have a rather long list of things we want to dig into in 000's way when the time is right, and both of these are on that list.
You are in good company on the 500E, by the way. Alois Ruf has kept his all these years, and the owner of the best restaurant in San Francisco (sadly gone now) and I used to talk about his all the time. I missed my chance at a gorgeous Midnight Blue on blue leather example for sale in SF years ago, and for a song. The high (city) miles scared me off, but the car was in fantastic condition. Probably for the best, as I am not sure I would have been able to keep up with the maintenance back in my 20s, but I still love these cars every time I see one.
