add shipping, and depending on where you live, it adds up.

So I just went with stock Banner Porsche branded battery - same as the stock I have now. Figured the same is good enough for me: the 991.1 battery part # is now 992-915-105-A 70AH. I'm in So Cal so 70AH should be fine. I imagine the stated needs on this thread to go for 90AH is for colder parts of America.

From Sunsetporscheparts.com in Beaverton, OR. "There are three battery options for the 2013 991.1. The prices stated do not include shipping. Weight and size are rough estimates."
(Dealership wanted $469 for the 80AH.)

"They are as follows:
992-915-105-A 70AH
11x 8 x 7 51 lbs +/-
$249.95

992-915-105-B 80AH
13 x 8 x 7 51 lbs +/-
$275.35

999-611-095-12 95AH
14 x 8 x 7 58 lbs +/-
$301.69"

I had a somewhat productive day...
Last week I changed the plugs and managed to semi strip one of the ignition coil fastening bolts.
Today I replaced the stripped bolt only to find a small screw in the passenger side rear tire and managed to plug it (my first!). I don't track and the pressure is holding so far but if it starts leaking I'm off to 2 new rears.
The rear lid for some love.
And yes the battery...great guide and the nut on the far end of the top bracket is evil. A great way to catch it from falling is to use a road atlas, pic included for illustrative purposes (yes yes pun intended). Wheels torqued to spec using my gearwrench, beep, 118, done!

Battery noob question, I drive the car once or twice a week, do I keep it on the tender like the old original one? The car is 2015 GTS as a reference...

During the driving season, I do not and sometimes it is parked for a lot longer than that. I still have the original Banner battery. Same car with NO additional aftermarket extras installed that could drain the battery.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes. I bought OEM from the dealer which I neglected to see in the prior post.
Next week I'll call them to find out whether they can recycle the old one...

A dashcam only pulls a few watts of power. Unless you never drove the car, you dont have to worry about a dashca m killing the Showbox jiofi.local.html tplinklogin battery.

Just contacted my dealership to replace the battery on my 991.1

I was shocked asked me $850 for an interstate not even oem.

Now I was considering to just order one online and install it myself.

Is this the right one for my 991.1 C2S?

The only thing I am confused it's that somebody talks about programming, as the dealership also told me. They would program it. But what do you have to program in a battery??

This has been discussed a ton. There is really no reason to program the battery. Buy a new battery, swap it out, and don't worry about programming. That $700 savings will buy you a lot more batteries in the future

The theory is that by telling the car it has a new battery it can adapt it's charging algorithms.

Amazing. You'd be better off dealing with organized crime.

I would. The battery that comes in the 991.1 can be a 70 Ah, 80 Ah or 90 Ah and I guess it depends on the market as mine is a 80 Ah. They all fit since they have the mounting holes for each of them. It looks like they have updated the part numbers. In any case they take the H6, H7 or H8 DIN battery respectively. The heigths and widths are the same, but the lengths vary (278 mm, 315 mm, 354mm).

As for programming, I sometimes wonder about that since I have not found a single article on the subject from a manufacturer. Forums say as long as you install the same battery with the same specs. Well maybe. The ECU in the vehicle has been controlling charging for a long time now (Honda started in the mid-90s). My VW Jetta TDI had it, my Acura has it and my 991 has it. It is that module on the negative battery post. Programming takes a few minutes...not hours.

Check out this tread from the Macan forum for a NAPA battery that seems to be similar to OEM:

You're just shocked? $850 is downright criminal. This sort of stuff just infuriates me. I would confront the dealer with a quote like that and threaten to go online to expose the dealer for price gouging and warn people away.

Replace the battery yourself. I have a 2013 991.1 C2S and replaced the battery in my garage last June. My dealer charged me $218.47 (plus tax) for a sealed-in-the-box OEM replacement (P/N 992-915-105). He quoted me $550 to install it (in which case he would've charged the full retail price for "parts" - i.e., the battery - of $391.58). Rounding that to $400 for convenience, that means his labor would've been $150 for 30 to 45 minutes of actual work (some of which would've been spent walking to the parts counter and back). This fully exposes what your dealer is trying to do. So, go online, search around for the best price you can for an OEM replacement, and then get yourself an Interstate or other if the price disparity vs OEM is too much. And then, install it yourself. Even not having done it before, you should only need to spend about an hour doing this (and having some fun, too). Read the threads about DIY battery replacements. And about registering the battery with the electronics - some people say it's optional, Porsche's documentation says to do it. If you don't do it, apparently it doesn't really matter according to folks who have replaced their battery without registering it. But if you want to register it, you can also do that yourself by buying a OBD scan tool. That's what I did. Registering my new OEM battery took all of 2 minutes. You can get a reader at Amazon. I bought this iCarSoft 2: https://rennlist.com/forums/newreply...ply&p=17423086. Apparently, they're up to version 3 now.

I had issues with 2 made in Mexico, Costco Interstate batteries. Luckily their customer service is great, but I gave in and just returned it. I replaced with the 92AH NAPA battery posted above. The NAPA is made by East Penn/Deka in USA. So far so good.
