FWIW, I have found what I believe to be the identical battery to the OEM: https://www.napaonline.com/en/search...&se=1&txtUser=
This battery's case is the spitting image of what's in there now and the specs are also identical: 92ah, 850 CCA. I'm pretty confident that it's made by East Penn/Deka for NAPA. I got a great discount using my AAA membership. You can also get a discount by signing up for their smartphone notifications. After the discount, it's comparable to the Interstate from COSTCO.

That's a great price for a dealer installed $500 battery.

Notice the note on the NAPA page: "See your authorized vehicle dealer or vehicle manufacturer authorized service specialist for proper battery installation."
I believe this means the battery has to be "registered" with the vehicles computer system. Not difficult is you have the proper scanner.

p.s.: East Penn's selection program indicates that your battery is the same as our's but I still suggest you confirm before purchasing one.

I have replaced plenty of batteries in Porsches and never "register" any of them.

Maye the biggest scam in car world. A battery doesn't have to be "registered", that's a ruse to get you buy a battery from the dealer. What they do with "registering" is reset the code in the car to tell the computer a new battery is in place, which very slightly reduces the charge output level of the alternator, which in turn helps increase fuel mileage a miniscule amount. All part of the CAFE standards which include the annoying Start/Stop function button that is set to "ON" every time you start the vehicle. You won't notice it, you won't feel it. Skip it unless you want your battery blessed by the dealer and don't mind forking over several hundred more vs an aftermarket battery you self-install.

Does anyone know where in the PIWIS diagnostics menu, there is a place to reset / register a new battery?

I have a BMW 535 and a Porsche 991. The BMW DOES specifically have battery reset function. However, on my Porsche 2013 991, I can't find a reset / registration function on my PIWIS 3 to reset the battery with the cars' computer, regardless of brand, OEM or aftermarket.
