I want to ask you a genuine question and I am not trying to be an *******. I have zero track experience other than going to PECATL once where I drove an .2 GTS with an instructor.

Are you saying a 991.1 is faster around a track than a 991.2 driven by the same person?

With an experienced driver the 991.2 will be faster around the track. However, the .2 cant touch the .1 when it comes to sound and power delivery. Honestly, if you track buy a cup car or gt3. If you want one of the last NA Porsche experience buy the .1 The .1 and .2 are both great cars but I truly feel if you drove both back to back most would buy the .1

Exactly this!!

I tried my level best to love a ,2 GTS, T or even a base car. When my 991.1 S got totaled in an accident, wife was adamant I should pick up a .2 GTS because I already had experienced a .1 S.

After several extended test drives (Pre covid times, dealers were so great back then) even the wife concurred .1 GTS experience, sound, power delivery was more "911" than the Dyson vacuum sounds and experience of the .2 GTS we drove.
Sure it had more TQ in low RPMs and seemed faster in the straight. line, given that a dual power Tesla Model 3 would embarrass any of these cars is enough to not get target fixated on the straight line speed.

Best 911 experience is in a 911 NA car...period!

Thats a good one! Only one way to settle this. The .2 guys nominate @4 Point 0 against the best .1 driver. Let the best man/car win

I've seen some pretty impressive .2 guys at the track. Maybe the issue is that the .1 completely underwhelms many of us and we're well past the clothes pin and baseball cards in the spokes phase. LOL.

I will close this discussion now.

Let’s use AMG as a perfect example:

Fair play guys, enjoy the sonorous 9A1 rip getting on the freeway on-ramp and we'll enjoy the better steering, shifter and chassis on the back-roads

"The hardware on the 991.2 is virtually identical to that on the 991.1, but thanks to software updates, the wheel feels better ...The 991.2 offers more of the traditional 911 wiggle on uneven pavement; you have a slightly more accurate idea of what the front tires are going through. Chiefly, it's more entertaining. The wheel dances a little under load, makes you feel like you're doing something, running a machine in the real world."

"The 991's seven-speed manual is derived from the car's seven-speed automatic ... Early versions of the seven-speed had narrow patterns and vague spring-loading ... There's stronger self-centering to the lever and the gates seem more defined, whether they are or not."

You actually prove my point. V8’s sound better than a measly NA 991.1 all day long.

As far as the Tesla comments go I can make the same argument: If y’all want great sound then buy a V8. And the power delivery of the NA engine… what power? LOL

A GT3 will get smoked by a modded (engine + suspension) .2 base on the track or anywhere else and it will do it for half the price. I’m assuming you want to be competitive at the track and not just hold everyone up. The NA cars will be bouncing off the rev meter and screaming in the back of the pack.

p.s I’m only kidding. All of this is a personal choice. Both cars are amazing and give the enthusiast what they are looking for. We are lucky to have 911’s. Enjoy in good health gents.

The alcohol must be kicking in. Plenty of comparisons of a GT3 vs a Turbo S on track and for the most part they are pretty even. No way you can mod a base even close to a turbo s. In 5 years what do you think will depreciate more a modded base or a GT3? Just like all the Carrera T owners who swear they are basically a GT3 for 1/2 the price. Anyway I hope your drinking a nice bourbon

So then I modified it to suit *my* tastes. Not the tastes of the next buyer, not the tastes of some random person on the internet, not because I think I can recoup any kind of investment in it. And then I modified the brakes and the suspension, because I could, and because I wanted to. My car eats GT3 RSs for breakfast, much like @4 Point 0 ’s car does. And to make a GTS perform like my car, I’d still have to spend money to modify it, and it would still be more expensive than what I have spent
Enzocat has a modded S and I have a base C2 with GTS turbos and a stage 3 Apr tune along with a bunch of other mods you can look up in the post history. @AlexZTuned runs a 10.20 in the 1/4 mile and he has a modded C4S. 991.2 Turbo S runs the 1/4 mile in 10.7 seconds.

991.2 Turbo S: 580 HP, 553 ft-lbs
My modded 991.2 base: 582 HP, 563 ft-lbs

Depreciation only comes into play if you plan on selling the car. It’s not an investment. It’s my toy.

You might want to edit your post when you sober up stud.

Lmao all these guys here saying they’re 991.1 sounds so good but wait till they get on the freeway and get clapped by some dude in an eco boost mustang 🥴 or anything else for that matter lol. I’ll take spooling vacuuming sounds all day over that alone.

haha anyone can drive fast in a straight line. You do realize a Tesla will eat your 10.7 for lunch right.? I’m talking about driving on a track stud.

I love when guys say depreciation doesn’t matter. Keep telling yourself that.
