991.2 Pros: I own one finally. C4S, MT. Love it. Love the low-end torque of the turbo engines and the various refinements to the gearbox, PASM and interior as well.
991.1: Cons: I didn't buy one when I could have when it was new. But I love the sound of the 3.8 L much more (without PSE thank you). That's all.
Both are very nice cars. I like the 4s models. My favorites in the 911 lineup

How did Porsche build such a soulless technological marvel?
Ok back to my slow .1 carriage

This whole thing about exhaust note reminds me when we were 16 with our first cars. My friend's was a Sunbeam Alpine and mine was a Cortina. We had the brilliant idea to remove the resonator on our cars to get that perfect exhaust note. I lived five blocks from his girlfriend's house, and could hear him leaving from a late night date.
My next car was Fiat 124 Spider, and within a week I had an ANSA exhaust on it. That one sounded great to my young ears.
Most recently, I had a 2016 Cayman with the 2.7L engine it it. It sounded raucous when wound up and I loved it. I do miss the exhaust note, but the torque makes up for the difference. The 991.2 C2 is a wonderful drivers car, IMO. I think this upcoming "T" model is almost perfect... for me.

I also own a 981 Boxster S (NA with PSE) which is my reference point and it just sounds fantastic. The 991.2 was much more muted but I thought sounded really good in the cabin. On the track, (as I watched and listened to them race by), it sounded really quiet even with PSE on. At the time, Porsche also had the 991.1 GTS, GT4, and Spyder on the track at the same time - totally different sound especially from a bystander's perspective. I love the NA engine exhaust sound. .....but I'm not a bystander so I only care about how the 991.2 sounds to me. I think it is pretty good.

I get it, I get, the .1 sounds better. Ok- YOU WIN. Full disclosure, I also own a real DYSON too! It doesn't sound like my 911.
EDIT- Oh- and the .2 doesn't have that dorky base (sad) steering wheel.

Sound is a really important experience for me in a sports car. Before I bought my 991.2, I flew down to PEC-Atlanta so that I could hear them inside the car and also along side the racetrack. Spending $121k on a new car is a lot so I wanted to be satisfied with my purchase.
