I have not seen anything regarding the sound. When a car sounds great, or there is the available sport exhaust, Porsche plays that up. Considering that the porsche microsite says nada about the exhaust worries me that this car will sound as boring as the 997TT and require an aftermarket exhaust.

A huge disappointment after a year of anxiously waiting. The design is bland, the front end is not uniqu or aggressive, the side vents are too small and resemble black beans. Heck, the new Boxster are gorgeous! Why anyone would pick this over the GT3 is beyond me. After waiting for a year to see what Porsche can come up with, my choice is now crystal clear: Audi R8.

I care less about how it looks than how it works. My 2012 997.2 tt is fun to drive around town, on 5-6 hours drives and also on a track I belong to. It will be interesting to see what kind of difference the four wheel steering and longer wheel base make. I have put enough money to upgrade my current car that I am in no rush to pick up an early model.

What's that round thing in the nose vent?
Something to do with a third radiator or the active aero?

So I had my dealer friend do a rough/back of napkin price a 991TT equally spec'd to my 6 year old 997TT as the trade in...Basically, I would turn in my (beloved) car, AND hand over close to $100K on the 991TT...I don't think so, I like my 997TT too much...

And...this information created a great conversation opportunity with my wife! you can imagine the rest....but I think that I won her to let me buy my old 996GT2 back! (It all of the sudden looks like a good deal!)

Anyone who says they don't care how a $160k car looks is lying. Of course you care.

There is never a reason to spend 160 on a car. You do it if you can and want to.

^ agree.

160K for one of these over here is chicken feed so at those dollars it could be fairly said why not change for the sake of only 80K more. But for all of that i would totally agree one spends what one feels the need to, or is accustomed to spending when making a change up. Personally if i could be fortunate enough to be able to buy one of these brand spanking new for 160 I'd take 2 (one for me, one for the misses) and keep the change with a smile. Having a chat with another car enthusiast today his comment to me was he genuinely saw the new 991tt car as being essentially the same as what i have and that only a Porsche owner would be able to tell the differences. So i guess thats some comfort for those that can't justify the spend. I will say he now has me thinking and maybe he has a damn good point that the two (997tt and 991tt) are essentially much the same to look at give or take a few minor powder puff changes that few outside of the general Porsche owner population would care to even notice.

anyone noticed the weight?
Unladen weight (DIN) 1,595 kg = 3516lb
Unladen weight (EG) 1,670 kg = 3682lb

why so heavy?
the Cab is going to be a porker!

Indeed! That's 165 kg more than the 991 GT3, which is already deemed heavy by 997 standards!

When comparing to that same GT3, the Turbo:
- is hardly faster to 100 km/h
- doesn't rev to 9k RPM
- won't sound as good
- no longer has a higher top speed
- has the up- and downshifting on the gearlever the wrong way around (again)
- doesn't look as good or as special (compared to Carreras)
- is almost 20k USD more expensive...

Complete no-brainer to me! GT3 it is!

I didn't get to see these specs for weight. I was expecting this to be the lightest modern Turbo ever.

I was just wondering about the weight of the car. The car looks heavier...Do you know how much heavier this is over a 997TT coupe?
(I weighed my 2008GT2 and it weighed in at 3160; no passenger seat, no driver, but for the life of me I cannot remember how much fuel I had in it...)
