Default Bloated price tag

As Porsche says, the new turbo and other models will be evolutionary, not revolutionary.

In Canada, that means paying about $210K for a reasonably optioned 911 Turbo, with prices falling by about $40K after one year, $75K after 2 years. A friend bought a 2010 Panamera Turbo S for $170K Cdn from a dealer and was offered $70K trade-in after 2 years with reasonable mileage.

Why not wait a few years and let the beast drop by $70-100K. If yr. impatient, buy a 2012 Turbo S for $50K below sales price, with reasonable options.

Some of us are just fed up with people scurrying about buying 21 variations of the same platfor, at high prices, with huge depreciation. We, as buyers need to be smarter.

With the exception of the new GT3, the more 991 variants I see, the more I appreciate the look of the 997 including the turbo. I hope the slight price increases of the 991 turbo will boost 997tt resale prices higher.

I am not in the market for a new car, but if those 3 photos is how 991TT will look like then I will not ever consider it anyway.
Yes, it is fast and dripping with tech, but the power of 997T is already enough for me, cannot use it all 99% of time anyway.

So it only leaves exterior and interior.

997TT interior is dated, true, but I love the simplicity of it, I really like the low buttonless central tunnel or example.

Exterior-wise the 991T has dull front that does not stand out, the rear is not lifting my skirt up either - those thin 991 lights are not my cup of tea, I do not like split vents, and the 4x exhaust a-la-Mercedes are non-unique. Moreover, the car is longer again (and it is long enough already in 997T format, especially given its useless frunk).

I also appreciate (more and more) the simplicity of the 997 interior - looks like that was the last model to hark back to the earliest 911 interiors. Simple interior, manual 6-speed, bullet-proof engine, enough power for the street, all-weather capability, exterior styling that I still think is drop-dead gorgeous - doesn't all of this scream "classic car" 25 years from now? I just don't think I can give up my 997TT - I just have this uneasy feeling that I would come to regret it very much after a while.

Beautiful 60's Mustang you had there Igooz! Also love the American V-8 (which is why I bought the Z06), but if I had to choose the 997TT would win. I'm an American born and raised in Germany (but have now lived in the US for many years), and think of my 997TT and Z06 as ying and yang. Turns out my personality is way more American these days, but still can't get the German car fetish out of my system.

The 991 Turbo sounds awesome on paper and I'm sure it will perform. The photos I've seen of it didn't excite me though but I'm not worried about that.

The rumored lack of a manual option is what has me worried. I hope this does not mean it will eventually go away on the entire 911 line. Yes, the PDK is faster. I get that. However, there is just something about driving a manual that is more fun.

At this point, my dream 911 is still a 2009 manual transmission 997.1 Turbo. I love the styling of the 997 Turbo and the 2009 model includes PCM3 and is the final year that the Turbo had the Mezger engine.

I may also consider getting a 2010-2012 Turbo if the new engine proves to be as solid in a few years, but my current plan is to pick up an '09 when the extended warranty runs out on my 997S in 2016. Although, I will admit the new 991 GT3 looks like it is a spectacular car.

Gorgeous! and the peformance is impressive as expected. BUT, the S base price makes it a $200k Porsche
after an option or two. That's a lot of $$ for a regular production run (non Italian) car.
I love my '09 but will probably switch to a PDK 997v2 TTS at some point. Manual tranny is a PITA in traffic. Go ahead and question my manhood but I dont need a MT to feel connected to the car, especially when 98% of usage is regular roads and traffic.

1. P says the s will do the ring in "well under 7-30." Is that impressive?
I mean didnt Nissan and the vette do better?
2. Those H-I-P-S! I like big butts and im not gonna lie!
3. Active front aero? That better have front axle lift as standard!
4. CL's! I Hate CLs and im not gonna lie!
5. Love the rear wing
6. Too bad the gear level action isnt like the Gt3 (pull to upshift)

It's a big step up. Can only look better in the flesh and i can just imagine how this car is going to drive. It'll be a weapon that's for sure. Love the red and black interior on the S. Stunning.

The dealer told me that the new Turbo will show up later this year or early next year...

I will keep my 997TT but I have now decided to lower it and change the wheels.

+1! I will look at the new GT3 and the new GT2 for sure although I am not sure if I want to swing that much money for a GT2 again.

Your comment on the Z06 reminds of my V8. I just sold my '67 Mustang after 20? years and I miss the rumble of a V8. I had built it from scratch and it was set up for the (light duty) track or street. I will probably start another build with a V8...

...Ok...back to the 991TT!
damn fine lookin mustang!

Cosmetically I think it's a home run compared to the 997TT. I don't miss the superfluous venting plastic in the rear fender intakes, the cleaner lines (a la 996) are much better to my eye. Also don't miss the 997 fog lights, the 991 TT front end returns the visual emphasis to the headlamps and makes it look a lot more like a 911.

I still remain skeptical about the 4 wheel steering, and look forward to driving the TT or GT3 to see how that actually impacts handling. Lack of a manual makes perfect sense to me. While I may find it disappointing from a nostalgia sense, the writing was on the wall with the 997 TT S, and it fits the target market for the TT and TT S completely. Makes even more sense to me here than it does with the GT3 (which I'm also at peace with).

I applaud the wider rear, I was always puzzled at the relatively small difference between the narrow and wide cars in the 997 era. I'd expect the GT3 RS to share this when it is announced.

Nothing even remotely redeeming about the center locks. They're an embarrassment to the marque.

Pricing seems a bit steep, but so does everything else these days.

At least that's my take, as someone who isn't in the target market for a TT.

i like the new (extra-wide) turbo body.

Everything i would expect in a GT car. Being able to drink coffee while in traffic is nice for DD.

I still like the 997 turbo, especially the 6 speeds because they are now extinct. Great car to own, but not as good as a 993 turbo....

Overall I like it, but like the GT3 better. I could probably spec my GT3 for about $138k and a Turbo for about $160k. However, I won't consider a GT3 until sport buckets are available or a Turbo because it is too expensive. Pricing increases are typical for Porsche, but the competition has gotten so much better that Porsche now seems overpriced.

Turbos have always been expensive my lightly optioned 08 was 134k.
