Okay so I did a 500+ miles wknd to the Tail of the Dragon for a DragonRally drive. 270+ miles of curvy roads in 8 hours ish.

Thoughts on these Conti's. At first I was really unsure I made a good decision. Pressures were up for mileage on the hwy getting there on Friday and had to hit some decent curves that afternoon. They were less than confidence inspiring and were making lots of noise (Swishing in corners at speed. Not really squealing but they were brand new so I figured they'd need scrubbed in).

Lowered the pressure to where they were around 36-38 Front HOT and 38-39 psi Rear HOT. They definitely got better with lower pressures and being broken in However, These tires definitely like to move around a bit more than my older PS4S's. They still make more noise also. As the day went on and I made my way to the front where the "really fast" folks were, I definitely tested the limits.

The good part is, even though they move around, it's a Fun and predictable movement. I was able to slide and drift it a bit but had no trouble going to the floor at any point. Full disclosure though, I did leave traction control on with these tight and unpredictable roads. I noticed my light coming on more often under loss of traction with these tires compared to the PS4S's!

Conclusion - They are not a bad tire but is different. Good different. For the small amount of savings though comparatively, I don't quite think it's worth it to Not go with the Michelin's. I'll continue to update, as I'll run these over the fall / winter. I do love them on my S2K and they were flawless when driving that car at 9/10ths on the same roads on my last trip there.

For the average driver that never pushes the 8-10 tenths on very very aggressive roads like these, I think these Conti's will be an Amazing tire for the decent savings compared to the Michelin's.

The only reason I'd not go Michelin is because they're not available in the supply chain. That said, The P-Zero N1 was a better, stickier tire on my car than the PS4S. They wear quite a bit quicker and they're a little bit noisier but if I was going to Deal's Gap (I've spent 19 weeks there over the years) I would want the stickiest tire I could get. You only need to slide a foot or so on some of those corners and serious injury is possible.

Interesting; I feel the exact opposite about the Pirelli - *** in the wet, unpredictable breakaway in the dry and horrid wear; I find the P4S superior to the Pirelli on all fronts.

Agreed, hence my comment of wanting the PS4S's or better for the future, given how I / we drive.

I spent most of my younger years on sport bikes in the mountains as well. I always ran race take offs up there. With as aggressive as we rode, you needed the extra grip.

I've never run the Pirelli's but don't see a need to try them given my luck with PS4S's and now these Conti's.

I thought I was going to buy a set of Cup 2's for the really aggressive days gut I just can't see the value in them for how quickly they'd wear out and the cost.

Maybe for the track though.

In cooler weather and in rain, the PS4S is 100% the better tire. On dry, warm days the P-Zero N1 offered more feedback and stuck better. You may have had the P-Zero N0 which is a different compound.

I'm running PS4S regardless as here in Ontario, that tire works much better 3 months of the year where the temperatures are cooler and I'm more likely to get unannounced rain.

I have never run them on the turbo; they came stock on the M5 cp.

Initially, I thought ok, until I took the car to California where I got stuck in some heavy rain and by God were they horrible.

Then I added the Dinan Stage 2 package and they got worse - the rears were gone in 11k kms, so I was forced to buy two replacements, and I hated them so much I picked up a second set of rims and got (at the time) MP3s which were light years better, then the 4s came and I was back in my happy place.

By driving another 120+ hp through the pirellis, it really revealed there limits and weaknesses.

I found this rather disappointing as back in the late 80s, 90s and 00s, I ran pirrellis on a number of platforms and was always happy with them.

But that would allow for road vs track set up.
