JB4 | 991.1 turbo
Hello rennlist,
I wanted to write a quick review about my JB4 on my 991.1 turbo. First of all I have used Burger tuning in the past with some of my BMWs and their products have always performed as advertised. So naturally when I bought my 991.1 turbo my first call was to BMS.
The installation was much easier than expected and requires NO TOOLS. I put together a quick
showing just how easy and painless this process was.
Right from my first drive the gains were overwhelmingly apparent. Keep in mind my only mod is the JB4. In map 1 the car feels great and puts down some great times (see photos). These times were recorded using a Draggy from BMS. In map 2 the beast is truly unleashed. This is a full 3 psi over stock boost pressure and I'm sure the car will have even better times.
I have been driving my turbo daily with the JB4 using map 2 without any issues since May, 2019.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.
-Todd
**EDIT** Attached updated firmware .hex files.

Front plug & Map 2
As for the runs with map 2 and draggy. I have tried this... easiest way to put it is that launching from a stand still map 2 = 4 wheel burnout 360 lol. BMS has a solution that I don't want to install. It is a wire running from your engine to the OBDII (tucked under trim of course). This allows for boost by gear. If you manage the boost by gear you will achieve faster times. In the future there will be a wireless blue tooth connection (4-6 months out). This is what I am waiting for to really see what the car can do with map 2. Otherwise from a roll map 2 is great. Extra power and performance.

Yes and no, yes I broke traction during launch control at all 4 wheel. No I did not do a full 360 because I let off the gas before I went all the way around. 🤣

I spin all 4 wheels on map 5 in second gear while rolling LOL
I need some R compound tires in the rear for sure. Especially since I'm getting some larger turbos put on right now

Pretty huge difference IMO You won't spin tires like that when you're stock... unless it's raining lol.

Todd, thank you for the awesome video. I am looking forward to getting my car in a few more weeks. I ordered it in Jan but currently deployed right now. Will be home soon and looking forward to my 2019 new Turbo. I will be doing the same mod.
Thank you again.

No problem, when driving under normal street conditions using map 1 or map 2 the car is basically cranked up to 11. Everything functions as is should just with a lot more power. Everyday usability and even a valet mode all controlled via Bluetooth. Im stoked to be one of the first with a 991 turbo JB4!

I’d love to see a JB4 non-S dyno chart compared to a stock S.

I installed JB4 last Friday and I'm also truly impressed. I also connected the optional OBD2 connector which was surprisingly easy. I will provide more details of the installation and my first impression, hopefully later this week. I'm on the east coast and use 93 octane, so I went straight to map 3 and the car runs perfectly fine once it adapted to the extra boost. I've had no issues with launch control, 2nd or 3rd gear pulls whatsoever. I started experimenting with map 4 today using E30 blend as recommended by BMS (no CPI kit). I feel like the car is still trying to adapt but it sure makes serious power compared to map 3. I'm now spinning in 2nd gear WOT. In fact, this was the first time traction control kicked in 8 months of ownership. Kudos to BMS.
