Only a crazy man would say an 8 sec 911 TT is underwhelming

I was curious about that myself. If an R8 makes a TT(or S) feel slow in a straight line, then it certainly isn't anywhere close to its OEM configuration.

Agreed. I've driven a stock R8 on the track before. I found it to be underwhelming, especially compared to a 911 Turbo S.

I'm guessing we're talking about a modified R8.

I have recently driven a friends R8V8 six speed, and although it makes lovely noises, and is beautifully built, it most certainly is not in the same performance spectrum as the TTs.

Default 30K mile service

Mostly the work of my good friend Wayne Smith, 30k service:
Changed plugs (what a PITA)
Changed oil and filter
Changed air filter
Changed cabin filter
Swapped in OE cats and muffler (Soul pieces for sale)
Locked centerlocks (3 of 4 would not lock properly)

For those 991TTS owners, who might be interested in the Soul GT2-style exhaust tips (see post #7164), you might think the picture I posted made them look as if they aren't centered. Pictures below show they are centered. However, that wasn't exactly simple to do. The right side OEM outer muffler pipe was about 2mm too wide for them to fit properly, and that required a bit of grinding.

If you put the head of the racket or extension in the locking mechanism and wiggy it back and forth, the lock usually pops right into place!!

Also, the opposite side of the included tool used to pop off the center-lock plastic caps is designed to exactly fit into the lock and is perfect for wiggling it...

This tool:

None of that worked. I'm experienced with CLs having had them on my 997GTS. We did get them locked, but need to work on them.

(We used an 8x1.25 bolt screwed onto the threads to physically pull the lock into place.)
