So attaching a battery tender is blamed for bricking the DSC? And/or leaving a DSC-equipped Porsche on a tender will brick the DSC?
This suggests there is a hardware problem with some of the units; from Tom:
Questions: Did the car recently had an ECU update or ECU flash? Or battery drain/replacement? Or was the car kept on a trickle charger over the Winter?
We occasionally see issues like this with the stuff we produce, the 1 in 10000 kind of thing, but most of the time some end user hero plugs something in wrong, shorts something, drops something, etc. This is not the case here - I was pulling into the driveway doing less than 5kmh, so it is possible that Otto and myself got a box that has a faulty component on the board, versus something wrong with our car.
I am just happy DSC is supporting me; I'll talk to Tom when he receives mine, and if there is a possibility of a 1 in 10000 kind of thing, I'll request a new box.

First two are “a thing.” Last one… first… terminology issue: A trickle charger is not a battery tender. A trickle charger left on for months is bad. A tender isn’t. A tender isn’t going to cause a problem unless it malfunctions. Years and years ago, I dropped a tender on the floor, and that winter it killed a battery. Later inspection indicated that the floor drop physically damaged the tender internally.
Modern ECUs really, really don’t like under-voltage when they are being flashed. But dealing with spikes from connection to power source - other than… say… lightening - is something learned in the first ‘lab course’ for EE.

All curious.
Indeed it is, so we shall see....
In other news, had to head to the dealer today for oil and air filter swap, found some interesting stuff on the floor....
When the 991 came into the stable, 2018, I could have gotten a gt2rs for 275k cdn... If I had a regret in my life, it is skipping that, however, at 550k, I would have stopped driving it.
Nice.... Though if one is buying a car as outrageous as the 992 GT3 RS that comes with a wing the size of a small apartment, I would think a color one hell of a lot bolder than GT Silver would be in order!
Agreed; one will never fully develop the speed on the street to get the aero working properly, so it seems like more of a statement, rather than a practical daily driver.
