Default Steering Noise - Does your GT3 sound like this?

Slow in parking lots, etc. I get some whining / squeaking from the steering. It started a few weeks after I got the car. Here is a vid where I am sitting still and steering the car side to side.

I know the GT3 makes special sounds because racecar, but I'm wondering if this is normal or something to investigate. Temps today were in the high 50's and it doesn't seem to be associated with cold weather.

Thanks!

Lovely sound. Kind of musical. But I'd prefer for it not to be coming from my GT3 :-)

I would say that is not normal. As my dad would say, it sounds like it needs 3-in-1

I don't think that is normal.
Does it only happen when the lift is activated?

Nope - Up or down. Doesn't matter.

I don't hear it at normal speeds. Not sure if it's just masked by all of the other racecar noises or if it truly is a slow speed problem only.

I have a similar noise while turning from stop then moving slowly. I notice when I pull into or out of parking spaces (lift down). It is intermittent though so I will take to shop when I can replicate.

All my GT cars have made awful creaking sounds when the car is moving very slowly and the steering rack is at or near full lock. So, yes, parking lots, three point turns, etc.

When I bought my first GT3, I was freaked out by these noises too and took the car to the dealership 3 times in an effort to fix it. Finally, a friend told me that it was due to the coil-over suspension. The springs tend to rotate a bit on the perches and the suspension gets bound up as the steering rack approaches full lock. I decided to live with the creaking noises and learn to love them.

I have to back my car out of my garage and perform a three point turn every morning. Even the new one creaks and moans.

Yours does sound bad though. Is it as bad in person as it sounds on that recording?

yeah, I don't really care about the sound if I know it's normal... but if there is a steering issue I'd like to know about it before my next track day ;-)

The sound is as bad or worse than what you hear in the video.

I have a similar intermittent noise as well (CALSE described it as I would). Does not seem to appear after car is fully up to normal operating temps (i.e. Not just the motor and trans but all the various moving parts). I now consider it part of the cars character

Oh my this is great...........that you have it on video so that everyone can hear it.

This is the WOOO sound I have been talking about when turning at very low speeds and it disappears as you pick up speed.
A few here have it, some are actually blaming it on the lift system, some are blaming it on the temp drop.
Hopefully someone takes it to the dealership and finds a solution. Unless its another normal sound with the GT3 like the idle chatter.......etc

I have a kind of squeal when my wheel is turned left at slow speeds. Going to have it looked at by the dealer.
