Dropped mine off at the dealer today and duplicated the noise for them.
It happens even at full stop, but most noticeable when turning wheel to left.
I will let you all know what they find.

Keep me posted - mine happens when turning right! If they do anything, I'll post the results.

I'm glad I'm not alone!

Not alone my brother! They think there is a tech bulletin somewhere on this.

Seems this should at least be simple to diagnose. Not a pleasant sound to be sure, but OTOH it's not an aircooled 911 airbox blowing up on cold start. If this steering noise disturbs some of you, the airbox detonation would send you into cardiac arrest.

What is this "aircooled" you speak of?

Mystery solved! Once again Mike in CA gets the prize off the top shelf! Spring rubbing on perch! A little dab will do ya! All Lubricated up and no more noise. Funny, mine was only doing it on one side. I hope they lubed both sides! Going to pick it up now. Was supposed to have 1200 mile oil change, but they didn't have a filter! Had to order it from Germany?! I said I can get one from Suncoast! But after the Black Friday sale they are backed up and it won't ship from them for 4 days! So at least I got the noise fixed, but no oil change. I may just follow Mikes DIY and do it meeself!

It's nice to get one right once in a while, Rob. Glad it was resolved so easily and thanks for the follow-up.

If rubbaman doesn't mind me butting in, the spring only makes contact with the strut in two places; at the top and the bottom of the spring. The spring can rotate slightly against the strut creating the "woooo" sound in either spot so they probably should have lubed both of those locations.

BTW, for those who are interested, you can easily see the threaded portion of the strut below the spring, perch, and locking collar that can be adjusted to lower the spring position, and thus the car, by about 8mm.

Rob, thanks for the update. Mine too only rubs on left hand steering. I'll have to remember to tell them to do both sides.

Here's the work sheet! They pulled the struts off.

Interesting!

Thanks, Rob. And the strut had to be removed to access everything including the strut mounting points too, eh? Obviously not a job for the casual DIYer!
